  1. Our church has started up a garden for our members and others in our community of 10’ X 40’ plots. We have some room but not for those things that spread out, like squash, cantaloupe etc. Those chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorites along with the iced oatmeal ones.

  2. Love your videos. Very inspirational. Your Aldi store was far more stocked than the one I went to a couple weeks ago. Years ago we had a store called "Save You Foods" which had the dented cans and other low cost items…sure wish we had it again. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I love the construction of those blessing boxes. Nice mini pantry kind of idea. I would love to see a wide shot of it so perhaps my community can install these . Love all you stand for patera. Thank you both.

  4. This video made me laugh at the cookies and then cry at the diapers and dish soap. As a family, we’ve always had God provide our needs… sometimes from random strangers giving us baby hangers even though no one knew we needed them… so those dipes and soap just hit me… because no one knows those feelings quite like a momma who needs to diaper her babies and wash her toddlers plate out so he can have lunch. Also… thank you for not being the person who tears others down for eating canned food… but just supplying some things that are easy for those hungry and in need of something in their belly!!!

  5. I'm setting up a large garden space at my church too. Part free community garden, and part garden for our ministry to feed the hungry. I'm also trying to set up canning/ dehydrating classes. This is the time for God's people to show who he is. Time to be the light in the darkness.

  6. I add what I can to our town's blessing box each week. It NEVER fails to be totally bare the next day. People were lined up for over 2 hours (!) for a food giveaway this weekend. Thank you for thinking about getting diapers and household items. Another big thing for the women I've served (I work for a program for low income families) is pads/tampons. They're expensive, necessary, and aren't covered by any programs.

  7. We've used a community garden for several years due to living in a condo and not having a place to garden. Our extras we donate to the church and Gleaners comes at the end of the season for what is left from everyone. This year we will be doing our garden at my brothers because he lives close by now.

  8. We are putting James on our prayer list. Your entire family is on it but I feel the need for him especially. We love you guys. Great haul for the blessings box!

  9. I wore out the rubber on my "Granny Cart". So we took bags of spring cleaning items to the thrift shop caught a 20 minute city bus to the island. Turned in recycling, Went to the independent hardware store to look for a wheel (No luck). Crossed the street to the local' bayside beach (No tourism, only locals). Ate our lunch, took turns wetting our ankles in the water. I walked and picked up the trash and bits of charcoal. Went and got a bigger bag and discovered how to dig up huge amounts of natural charcoal for free. When we got home I filled a large and medium cookie tin with all the charcoal. — Never done that before. It felt like the thrill of sticking my hand into the raised bed to feel around for potatoes! (I kept finding more). Sure glad you showed the Blessings Box. It's lovely. Excited to see the church encourage the non-land owner's to do gardening. Especially touched by the message inside that said "If you don't have a church, join us…" Patara, I give a standing ovation for your "this is what working looks like."
