  1. Yes, I made the mistake of buying some Bonnie plants. When I transplanted the basil the dirts were full of some sort of insect eggs. My cherokee purple tomato is looking poorly already. So sad!

  2. peppers are a hit and miss. I actually bought Alma pepper seeds from your company. Not one seed germinated. All other pepper seeds from you germinated. Not sure what happened with the Alma ones. I tried 3 batches of Alma and nothing. wow

  3. My garden cost has been about $500 this year. Gotten 2 yards of top soil, 2 yards of homemade potting soil, couple gallons of fox farm fertilizer, 2 dozen varieties of seeds, a dozen hay bales, 200 pounds of milo for making mushroom spawn, and 5 strains of mushroom spores.
Oh, and the wheebarrow. That should have been my very first purchase

  4. Home Depot and Lowes in the Dallas area are both selling the single Bonnie's plants for $4.70 EACH! The tomato plants I bought were barely 6" tall and looked like they should have been sold in a 4 pack, but somebody at Bonnie's decided to up-pot them to a larger pot to justify the price hike. I only have a few small raised beds (20"x24") and I spent $100 on tomatoes, peppers, basil and parsley. I need to start doing my own seeds next year.

  5. Haven't bought seeds from you yet. But, you are our top choice to buy our next batch of seeds from including looking to try growing stevia from seeds this year instead of buying seedling from the nursery. Our seedling actually already died within two weeks, even with hardening off. I'm having a hard time finding sources for growing stevia from seed, do you have any tips?

  6. Today 5/1/22 I stopped in the garden section of Lowe's in Bayonne, New Jersey just to look. one ( 1 ) tomato plant was $4.78 plus 7% state tax that's $5.11 PER PLANT.

  7. I usually start from seeds, however we are recovering from Covid and are not as energetic plus catching up on work, so no time to deal with planting seeds, sadly. I’ve gardened for years and I missed starting from seeds. We have a small garden so this year I bought a few locally grown broccoli, cabbage and lettuce plants (cheap at a yard sale) and onion bulbs. Will have to buy tomatoes, celery, and peppers. Planted various greens seeds today and feel very excited! Love to watch your videos!

  8. Every year I try to grow something new. This year I’m trying to grow honeydew melon, watermelon and turnips. I’ve been trying to start bitter melon but I read they won’t germinate unless they’re in 80-90 degree weather. I’d love to see any tips you might have for starting these indoors.

  9. I start all mine from seed..it took a few years to be really successful..and get the grow lights and warmer mats..and selves cuz they take over the house otherwise..but now I'm set up I can start indoors..and get better production than waiting to plant in ground..which some things I still plant in ground like peas beans cucumber most squash..i do start longer growing maturity varieties indoors..then transplant.
The only plants I've bought the last few years have been flower bulbs and trees.

  10. I live in Zone 6a in Michigan. I’m container gardening this year as I just can’t dig an earth garden anymore due my age. I sure hope it all works out. You should see my living room! Plants everywhere! But I can carry these containers in and out on my deck now and I’m really excited because I quit gardening because I can’t dig anymore. Lifting the soil is just to much for, I’m 69 with bad shoulders. Wish me luck!

  11. i was told i could not start from seed by the big box store when I asked where the seed aisle was. I guess I was supposed to buy the plant they were selling instead. Smh..

  12. I just want to say, first time gardeners by experience it is very expensive by all mistakes I did and some tools I have to buy to make my own raise beds, plus soil.. and on top I bought very expensive seeds and I kill half of them..butr at the end it is very fun and therapeutic for me, so this will not be my last time doing garden, I know better for next year.

  13. We got burned yesterday from Bonnie plants. Bought a fennel plant, and of course it laid over pretty bad within a couple of hours. I looked it up, and sure enough, fennel plants never transplant well. It's crazy to me that they sell stuff that doesn't transplant. If I'm in Bonnie's shoes, I want my gardeners to have a good experience so they continue to garden. There are probably new would-be gardeners out there just starting with the odd plant or herb and if that doesn't make it (as most fennel won't), they may never pick up gardening as a major hobby.
