Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm
Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.
There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

Greenstalk Mothers Day Sale (Stack coupon code ROOTS10 to bring price under $100): http://lddy.no/6xhd
I’m about to plant up my GreenStalk on the porch of my apartment! Bought it last year with your code!
Thank you! The code was my motivation to go ahead and order one after thinking about it for a while! Looking forward to adding it to my garden!
Thanks again for your sharing of knowledge! My garden is really starting to thrive and it's just so exciting! -from BC canada
An idea, my 1stGreenstalk planting this year and I had accidentally started trailing nasturtiums. So I put some in the top tier and they are really adding beauty.
Such a great video! I'd love to hear more about your mom's containers and greenstalks.
I bought a Greenstalk last year, loved it, and then bought a leaf this year! I think it was a brilliant idea for someone to make such a useful vertical planter that actually works and has enough space for a plant's roots, is food safe, and is made in the USA. It's a real lifesaver for those of us in a city – not only to make the most of small spaces, but to keep plants away from city pests (I've dealt with racoons, feral cats, skunks, mice and rats messing with traditional containers and raised beds in the past) and to ensure that the soil I am growing in is controlled (versus sowing directly in the ground, which is sadly contaminated in my neighborhood, with its century-old houses). I put both of mine on my balcony and all of my neighbors have been asking what they are! So excited to see how they both do this summer!
Love this set up looks great!!
Your hair is very beautiful today!
I wish they made a screen for the top. Keeping it outside I have debris in mine all the time I have to fish out.
If you can… keep us updated on on the journey of your giant crimson from MI Gardner.
Thank you so much for always talking about hydrophobic soil. I live in San Antonio, TX, and deal with that issue all the time.
$100 bucks to grow strawberries and flowers? Those are some spensive berries. On a true limited budget those don't cut it.
Maybe for greens and some shallow root vegetable .
High price and lots more work.
I've been so behind on watching videos. Where did you get your galvanized beds?
"Contain-Mint" lol. You're a joy to watch!!
I have to water the pockets as well as the pan at top. Soil was very dry after watering with only the pan.
14:16…*is not cost effective* or is cost prohibitive
Is there something the matter with your camera or is it my phone?
I went to order but can't afford the shipping right now. SO BUMMED! I mean, really, really bummed. Maybe the Good Lord will make a way because this would answer so many issues for this disabled granny. Maybe HE is saving me from disappointment later because I do live in a Very rainy climate…. Lots of slugs and such and I can't use any chemicals to keep them gone.
I was going to use your coupon code but it was more expensive if I used it. I bought a 5 tier, $159, base, $40, n 5ft hose, $10. For total $159. If over 150 then shipping is free. When I used your coupon code the order $149, then shipping was $18.97 bringing order up to $168.97. Well duh. Maybe less than $9 but still was kinda unreal. So did not use your code but thanks for the thought even if it was not worth it.
I have been looking at these for some time now but have not purchased one yet. I live in So. California where it gets very hot during the summer, would it be best to place one of these that gets partial shade during the day instead of in the sun all day? My garden really struggles once our summer heat gets going. I would love to have one of these for growing salad greens, and your herbal tea idea is one I would like to try also. I have a lemon balm growing and a nice rosemary plant, I have discovered that fresh rosemary makes a nice tea and isn't strong like dried. Any suggestions on placement of these greenstalks would be appreciated.
