VIDEO: Affirmation | Life Chat with Jess

*******************

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. Jess, you are having a true life coach vibe lately and I love it!!! This video struck me strongly, im going to buy the book on love languages and I have to find a transcript of this post because I want to use these tools with my grandkids… ..thank you, I am going to tattoo these affirmations on my inner eyelids for myself, haha. Thank you soul sister…

  2. We do a similar thing most days. My husband and I started going on a short date. We would get a small piece of chocolate and ask each other to "Tell me something good." It could be anything, small or large, just not about work since we are self employed. Now we do it with my autistic nephew too as he stays with us. It's hard for him to figure out something good but we wait and he has given us some real gold nuggets.

  3. Thank you, Jess! You made me cry, as I'm nearly 70, and never had anyone really affirm my existence. Years ago, I asked one of my parents if they loved me. The response was, "We love ALL our children." I was like, okay, but do you really love ME? I got silence. I have felt invisible, even with my husband's treatment of me. If it wasnt for negative, hateful, judgmental, hurtful, words, I wouldnt get any at all from my husband. He brags about me to others, but condemns me in and out. I'm too old to start over, but I know that God loves me, and that gets me through heartache. I live SO much HAPPY, vicariously, through you and your lovely family! Ben ALWAYS makes me smile, too! His happy, smiling face always fills me, and makes me smile, as well. You are ALL such a tremendous blessing to me! Thank you for being so honest, open, real, genuine! Even your 'rant' video was given with love. You are an amazing young woman (and, yes, REAL women CAN give the definition of what a woman is), and I appreciate your loving candor in everything you do. I'm thankful that you have invited all of us out 'here' into your family and home. You and your family mean the world to me, and my heart bursts with a little more love every time you share with us. I truly desire to be a better person and Christian in this world, and you are helping me on my journey. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks (haha), and I'm learning a lot from you!! Thank you, again, Jess! You have a servant's heart! I pray God blesses you ABUNDANTLY!!!!

  4. I greatly appreciate this because I've tried this with my boys and didnt know exactly how to do it… I've tried the best worse and thankful for in the day ..

  5. Thank you for sharing that Jess. I am very aware of family culture and have built a strong one for and with my family. This is something I would like to add. I think it could be very healing for some tender places. A phrase I learned recently was "it fee.s good to have your tires pumped", that is exactly what this is.

  6. You should show us more home tips, if you don't mind. This was great, and it's exactly what a lot of us who grew up in dysfunctional homes need. Food and food preparation tips are amazing to homesteading, but at the same time, you gotta know how to make a home as well!

  7. Jess, love this video. I have always been a person who doesn't like conflict or hurtful words. When I was little, I would make it a point to let the people around me know how much they blessed me. My Mom was a really wonderful upbeat person who was affirmative in her dealings with us. My paternal Grandmother lived across the street from us and she always saw the world in a wonderful upbeat way. We have done the same thing with our kids and now we see them doing affirming techniques with their kids. It's wonderful to see. You are so right. We have the power to lift up or tear down people to the core with our tongue. I try very hard every day to build up my husband (we are now retired and are here on our homestead most days by ourselves, but I LOVE being with him and he is the same with me. We are in our early 70's but still have fun together. We laugh a lot!) Our kids and grands are super people that love helping others and doing for others and for the community and it blesses us so much. Just for the record, I truly find you and your family such a blessing to us. We love watching you all. You are a bright spot in the community and it is a joy to see. Have a blessed weekend.

  8. Thank you for your message. I appreciate your channel- the time you put in your thoughts and your love of gardening. Had a scare this week. Prayers and positive thoughts made it possible to see the end.

  9. Jess I want to start doing this but to begin I want to do it where we all write something we like about the person, something positive we think they did well, and something we feel they did kindly on a piece of paper and to begin it is annoymous, I am going to get little bags for my two kids my husband and myself and start doing this

  10. Jess your family lives in the light of God. Anyone whose been watching you knows even when times are hard your faith is front and center. You’re teaching your children about affirmation circles is beautiful. Redirecting them into positive and loving ways of seeing others is awe inspiring. Your children are all very sweet and loving. You and Miah have raised beautiful human beings. May God bless you and your family with peace and love. Kindness and joy will follow. Thank you Jess for sharing your insight. You’re stewarding well the land and the beautiful family God blessed you with.

  11. I wish someone let me know how to do this when my children were small..in my own strange way we did do something to this effect, but you just put words to this actionable need…thank you from, the oldster enjoying your channel ☺️
