My dad had gathered a bucket full of slugs, he tipped them on the lawn and stamped on them. He noticed a week later that the lawn was dead where he squashed the slugs. Maybe you can squash them over weeds as a natural weed killer, worth trying. These were NZ slugs, should be the same as British slugs though.
you can drown the slugs in water then let them decompose then you Siv the water and water the garden were you don't want the slugs you've basically made a natural form of nematode's for slugs perhaps i should delete this will i get a come back becouse its not humane id rather drown than be eaten alive by a frog lol
Maybe your slugs are different? We get leopard slugs and they don't care for grass they literally come in the house on the house on shed and in no matter if there's grass or not and actually my boat has killed the grass leaving a mud patch they absolutely love it by the dozens
I have built and sited a hedgehog house in each of the four corners of my garden resulting in at least one being occupied on any night. Currently being winter all four houses have a sleeping prickly dude in them. Needless to say, I have very little problem with slugs.
We've found crushed up egg shells to be good for keeping slugs away. Apparently they get cut on the sharp edges of they attempt to cross. Crushed sea shells work in much the same way.

Frogs Toads and Newts too in a wildlife pond & hibernaculum in your veg patch? Or chicken tunnel-run around your whole raised bed or through the middle of it (veg either side)? Or hedgehogs in the corner of your garden and a hedgehog house for them too?

I have used that DE, it's not great but it's not terrible. Best I've found so far is chilli flakes!!
Also, with DE, don't let it sit on your plant, if it gets wet while on any part of your plant it turns into a paste, that paste will stay wet and cause mould on your plant!!
I don't rehome slugs to my compost. I'm to worried about their eggs coming straight back to my garden.
I went out on a slug hunt.
I didn't have a .45 calibre rifle, nor did I have a flashlight .
Being English, I did have a torch and a bucket..
We have torches, we have never had flashlights.

I use Ash from the fire at home to sprinkle around the seedlings to deter slugs.
Pick them off veggies plants and drop into some cup of soap & water.
Crushed eggs shells. A think layer encircling the plant., sharp Edges deter them.
When you’re out on a slug hunt you can HEAR all the slugs crawling around too.
Instead of beer I have used a cup of water with some yeast in it and it works too. Both beer and yeasty water can be bad for cats and dogs though, so that’s something to be aware of.
Sand. Use fine coarse grain sand like you would find on the beach infront of a resort sitting on the Gulf of Mexico. Sand you would use in a childs sandbox. Sand also contains silica and quartz which isn't fun for any soft skinned creature to wiggle around on. Imagine the last time you got sand in your crevices and how badly it scratched you up? Now imagine you had to wiggle belly down on sand to get from here to there….yea painful, and it is not what a slug needs in its life.

Two things work for me, 1. the slug hunt and 2. storing and using ash from woodstove and sprinkling around plants in same way you used the silica rock. The ash works exactly like the silica but without the expense! And slugs Hate it..
The best method going by this video,is just go out and pick them off,it costs nothing but time and easier in the long term.
They are incredibly resilient creatures. Their only enemy is the drought… I use the drought to get rid of the slugs.
Corn meal dries the slugs up just like Diatomaceous Earth and its cheaper, but if it rains, you do have to reapply
i pick the one i find in the eveningtime and throw them away somewere else
