Amen, Patara! Some will be left behind unfortunately due to their own arrogance! I spoke with someone from Canada yesterday about what is currently going on here. They made the comment that hopefully our government will help us out when we enter into a depression. I said to him like what? Like they helped the Native Americans when they killed all the buffalo, gave them blankets with small pox on it, and forced them onto infertile reservations? I told him that I don’t need or want that kind of help. I’ll do fine with the faith I have in my creator, the sweat of my brow, and my trigger finger, if it comes to that. I hope and pray every day that it doesn’t come to that, but from what I’m seeing with the writing on the wall, it looks like we’re going to soon be experiencing some of the hell that the Native Americans went through in those days. When the government turns its back on its people, its people will have no alternative than to rise up against it and take back what is theirs. My only hope is that it happens in my lifetime so my grandchildren and great grandchildren do not have to go through it.

As a transplanted Florida pioneer cracker (a true cracker by original pioneer definition, which is nowhere near being a derogatory term) now living in Oregon, hearing your words makes me feel like I've been transported back to my southern roots. It's such a breath of fresh air to hear people talking common sense with good old fashioned advice. I'm heartened to know there are so many like-minded people out here that are joining you in your journey and that there is an open exchange of information and ideas that benefit us all. Your words are opening eyes and quickening the senses and that's a good thing! It is so needed in these insane times! My husband and I are seniors and not able to do as much as we'd like, but we're doing what we're able to and that's the most important thing! We just keep on moving forward, with a little loving prodding from you. Thank you for your stamina and courage, keep up the good work!!

We knew a gentleman who graduated college with a degree in finance the day the stock market crashed. He couldn’t return to the farm. It could only support his parents and brother’s family. He had a hard scrabble for awhile. I don’t think he ever worked in finance.
The autobiography of Norman Borlaug is very interesting too. Young people who weren’t established really had a tough road, but in many it brought out the best.
