VIDEO: Installing Irrigation & Running Water On Off Grid Land

In this video I’m going to show you how I installed an irrigation system and running water on our off grid land.

Last week we had extremely warm weather blowing in from North Africa with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius. We just planted close to 400 new trees and want to give them the best chance to survive the upcoming summer.

That’s why I had to quickly install a new irrigation system so we can provide sufficient water to the trees.

Whilst I was at it I also installed many taps so we never have to walk far to get running water.

This system is NOT finished, but just an emergency installment.

We have placed a submersible well pump in our spring-fed water well. Connected an algae filter and a pressure tank to it. Laid out 40mm pipe on the land, connected drip irrigation and taps on it so we can have water wherever and whenever we need it.

The next steps we will take with our irrigation system is to connect a sand filter, dig trenches and bury the pipes below ground.

For now this system runs on our generator, but in the future we will connect this to a solar system and completely automate it.

Hope you’ll enjoy the video!

  1. Was an unexpected warm week last week with warm weather blowing in from Africa. We had to quickly install a basic irrigation system to ensure we could water our trees quickly and efficiently. This system is NOT done. Check the description box for more information. A lot of people have asked for more explanations on the systems we developed so far, so soon I'll do a 6-month update video in which I'll explain everything we've done up to this moment. Hope you'll like the video!

  2. You have accomplished a significant amount of work. Since I garden in Texas, US, I understand the importance of water, especially during brutal heat. Congratulations on what you have done and good luck on future projects

  3. Love to see your progress and always learn something new! Thanks for sharing! Do you have a „buy me a coffee“ option? I would like to give you something in return for your videos.

  4. Здравствуйте, красоту создаете.
Вы не переживаете, что найдутся какие-то русские которые все по вырывают и украдут все ваши труды?

  5. A solar power setup would be cool. You could collect the water downstream, and when it's sunny (which seems to be all the time, except at night), power an electric pump to move the water uphill. You'll always have pressure and can move water independently of the pump. And you don't need petrol.

  6. Hi. I've bought a small farm with 2 friends and to learn some more on agriculture, no dig sistems and more we've watched all your videos a long time ago. It was a good surprise to see a new video done days ago and a better surprise to realize that you chose our country to come and live and raise your children. We welcome you, wish you all the luck and be waiting for the next updates. This one was funny because we saw so much similarities to our journey so far. Lol…

  8. I think it is necessary for you to get an outdoor microphone wind muff, it is really hard to watch your videos because the raw sound of the wind in the mic is really annoying to hear. I like your content and video quality though! Just the wind sound is bad.

  9. Hey Moreno, I would like to make a request for short captions during the video as to what exactly your doing or maybe more of that sweet accent voice over, either way love the channel and I have learned so much. Thank you

  10. Lovely system! A nice future addition would be to put a large tank up high on your plot, so you can fill it with solar during the day and have gravity fed irrigation at any time you need it.
