VIDEO: June Farm Tour | Where Is My Summer Weather?

It’s June on the farm, which normally means hot summer day causing the flowers and veggies to explode into massive growth. But not this year! And it is causing some issues for our growing – the summer flowers like zinnias and cosmos are sad and slow. Our summer loving veggies like tomatoes haven’t really started to grow. And we still have a lot left to get into the ground. But the carrots will be ready soon. And the spring loving flowers, like ranunculus, are having the best year ever. Come and check out our flower farm and veggies gardens, and get all the details about what is going wrong, and what is going so right!

  1. Spray them with Neem Oil. It is a harmless cure. Read up on it and I think you'll like it's many aplications. We grew perennials for many years and used it all the time. Best of Luck! Judi

  2. I'm near Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. We had really NO summer last year ( & this year). Cool, cloudy & rainy. Hoping for warmer this coming summer.
Your sea holly is so pretty. I planted some from seed & the pollinators loved it & it was tough but was very prickly & the flowers were smaller & nowhere near as pretty. I cut some to dry & kept wondering what the horrible smell in the house was & it was the sea holly.

  3. Pureed and watered down onions applied like a spray works on aphids. It can make the strongest, sweetest smelling tea roses smell like onion and then rotting onion if the pureed onion isn't washed off by rain or watering. The scent may repel both aphids and harvesting ants, it breaks up the ant trails (ants dint like to cross it), kills the aphids which are directly sprayed, and kills the aphids which eat coated vegetation. I understand similar can be done with some of the hotter peppers too.

  4. This is one of the most beautiful videos you guys have done, i love it, its why we come to your channel, to see your farm and learn everything you share with us, great job, flowers are gorgeous, thank you ☺️

  5. Thank you for what you said about not using any pesticides! I’m expanding each year my backyard gardening in both cut flowers (you are so inspirational on that!) and my vegetable gardening, and just this morning while knocking Japanese Beetles off my new strawberry plants (Johnny’s Seeds bareroot) into soapy water in a coffee container, I was thinking about how I would like to garden completely pesticide free! I’m learning as much as I can about companion planting and natural pest control. We’ll see, but that’s my goal, and once more you’ve inspired me! I’m growing cut flowers to make bouquets to give away and enjoy in our home (maybe one day sell?) in Missouri, Zone 6b!

  6. Everything is so beautiful. Especially you in your pretty dress. Those mustard green yellow flowers you can use in your bouquets Goldenrod fireworks I have in my garden I recommend it. Unique shape flower in the arrangement They spread .

  7. Ok, so bouquets with cardoon leaves and eryngium, wouldn’t that be wild?! I love eryngium too, have for many years. My sister had some a long time ago and I was struck by its show-stopping gorgeousness. Just like I am with you this evening in your balloony stripey wonderful dress, surrounded by oceans of flowers. I don’t know if you’ve ever looked more beautiful. Thank you!

  8. Oh, I found a tip for you for burning holes in your landscape fabric… I saw a man using a sheet of cardboard covered in aluminum tape with the holes cut out as a template. He said he’s been using it for over 10 years. BUT the kicker is he uses an acetylene tank with torch, not propane. I’ll see if I can find the video. He was another flower farmer.

Okay! It’s PepperHarrow Flower Farm, – The Battle of the Weeds Begins around 12:30. Hope that helps cut down on time for y’all.

  9. That's really amazing that you don't spray with anything at all – I've never heard you mention pests before so whatever you're doing must be working!
