Your facial expressions had me cracking up when Josh was using the nail gun. You guys are making such great progress on the new house.
Lol so did Josh hear you starting over and over when he was nailing. I just pictured him waiting for you to start talking again so he could start nailing just to have a little fun with you. Lol. Also if you have that same flooring it can be patched to look like it was never a wall there. The flooring manufacturers should be able to tell you how to patch it or lead you to professionals who do it all the time.
LOL Becky….laughed out loud as you were trying to get out the info on caulking and painting in the right order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remove the wall! Honestly it’s so old fashioned and outdated open plan all the way
Hi Becky and Josh. Cut the the wall half way down and make a long table. Like a buffet table. Anyway you do, it will look great!
Ps. I put grated zucchini in my spaghetti sauce tonite to give me extra veggies for tonites dinner. And it was really super good. Thank you for sharing that awesome tip.
What if you did a mosaic patch, maybe something with the family name even? That's be dope
I'm with, remove the wall. Half or whole, it's an eyesore.
Loving watching the progress and wanted to give a friendly reminder that it's pronounced cawk not culk.. looks fabulous, remove the wall!
We could hear you fine over the nail gun. Or voice over. Don’t stress we understand work is happening
Be very careful with St John's Wort. It can mess with other medications. It also can make some people more anxious.
Instead of a half wall, what about putting in some kind of island in place of the wall to define your entry and a place for storage. Just a thought. Looks very good without the beams.
I’m cracking up. Talking between the nails when you were talking about the order of caulking and painting. I like bloopers!
Yum that looks sooooo good! I love my cheese browned, what’s the name of the meat masher thing you use to break up the sausage?
Love that you mentioned the "Epic Gardener". I LOVE watching Kevin's channels. He's the one that prompted me to try container gardening in 2020.
a possibility would be to do a decorative inlay in the floor. if well planed and fitting to the rest of the floor, it will look intentional
I was a professional "master" painter and had my own company and you are right. Trim goes on, first, caulk, then paint trim and then the wall. The reason why you paint the trim before the wall is because it is much easier and cleaner to "cut" (paint the edge of) the wall, rather than the small edge of the trim.
I use rags when I caulk. I wrap the rag around my finger and hold it securely and use that to press and clean the caulk all at once. And i don't get a mess on my hands. Another bonus of this is that the washcloth protects against splinters.
Silicone caulk should never be used on trim or window sills, people. It is for waterproofing. Like around tubs and showers. Use painter's "paintable" caulk.
I think the wall's got to go! It's bad Feng shui. Question: How do you know those were not supporting beams? Could they have been installed to prevent the roof from bowing during a repair? It's just a really weird thing to have there for no reason. Sometimes, when living rooms are opened up and hallways removed these partial walls will be left there so that the support beams can stay rather than doing it the right way and reinforcing the structure with thick double joists.
Your house looks great! My house is a mess as far as what the previous owners tried to do. It would have been easier for me had they left things alone! But it was their house then. I need to keep reminding myself that they did not do these things to make it more difficult for me. LoL
You could secure the half wall with a couch on one side, and a entryway table/dresser. With it that way it could be secured from both sides.
If you choose not to remove the wall, I think I would make it wider so that it has more base, paint it a light colour have a painted or natural wooden top on it so that it feels like a console table behind your sofa, you would be likely to put a sofa there anyway to be able to see your view and a table behind the sofa would seem normal
I would take the wall out. But that’s just me.
If you want to take it down, and patch the floor… something that would maybe cover it is a sofa table
