Some of the comments are saying most soaps won't hurt plants but chlorine will and I live in a city where we have chlorine and fluoride and various other chemicals in our water I'm not sure I like that idea
Just an FYI for people who want to try this- in a a lot of places this is against building code and you can get in trouble for re-routing waste water. I'm not saying either is right or wrong, just saying you could get in trouble.
My Dad was doing this for years. Instead of emptying the wash-water down the sewer, he set up an oil drum to collect the wash-water and connected a hose at the bottom of the barrel.
We had a setup like this, but it wasn’t code compliant. Something about the chemicals in the washer & it needing to go to the sewer. Plus, how are you using grey water (likely some chemical) to water your green things?
Did you film installation? I'm interested.
I need switches

Wow must me an old vid.
Love it! Very innovative
I see I'm not the only one concerned with soap going into your garden and plants…

Doesn't the soap mess things up
Mine does too!
We watered our lawn with gray water in Australia. And this was more than 20 years ago!!!
I’ve always wanted a grey water system!
Garden of plastics
Brilliant
Microplastics in laundry?

The soap is ok? I'm assuming so – earth filtration 😀
So you must use a special kind of shampoo/detergent, right? Or is it somehow filtered out
At my house we don't take showers– we "water the bananas"! and our washing machine waters the fruit trees!
What about the soap and detergent?
Label those switch positions!
Isn't the soap a problem? O.o
This is awesome—great ideas!
