VIDEO: The cottage garden is coming together | VLOG

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. Hey, the Minimal Mom just gave your book a shout out and a while ago Laura, Garden Answer mentioned you. It’s nice to know you guys watch each others channels.

  2. I have grown the mini pumpkins before and I did bake them whole, then cut out the top, cleaned out the seeds and then put butter and brown sugar inside. Each person had their own pumpkin to dig out the meat with the sweetness. We enjoyed them.

  3. The way Ezra is just watching the water fountain with awe and excitement. Best money ever spent lol so cute. That is going to be a core memory for him for the rest of his life ^^ and maybe I've never heard you say it before but his middle name is jude? Ezra Jude? LOVE that!

  4. Just watched a interesting way to collect bugs from plants. Ann of all trades used a portable vacuum. Like the small hand held car vacuum. I had a dirt devil.. sounds like a good idea

  5. I use those Jack be littles for my dogs. I slice them in half and roast them on stoneware , and add the flesh as a topper with some light broth when they are having tummy troubles.

  6. You should try the Dickinson pumpkin for pies sometime. They make such a delicious pie! I cut the pumpkin in half, roast it for a while depending on the size, puree the meat and freeze it. When I thaw it out I wring it in a cheesecloth and it's ready to use for pie. So good!

  7. Those boys of yrs you just want to hugs them. So precious! I miss those days. My baby just turned 18. Im blessed she will always be with me. Special needs that needs guardianship.

  8. I'm growing Kajari melons this year. They fell off the vines when they are still green but have slight melon scent. Then they ripen within a day or 2. The flavor is like Honeydew but there's no sweetness. Did I overwater?
