Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm
Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.
There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

It was good to see Daniel. His weight loss is an inspiration. Thank you for the recipe. I always enjoy the vlog. Many blessings to you and your whole family.
Such a great video on tomatoes!
Here in Tucson we also call those lil succulents Mother of Thousands. They will grow like crazy so keep an eye. And they are easy to propagate. ❤️
I have been making basil tea since I saw your first video about it. It is so good
I usually peel tomatoes by just pouring boiling water over them in the sink. The peels comes right off, after just 20-30 seconds of them being submerged in hot water also. Have a nice canning season, everyone!
Ugh i have been thinking i have like 3 weeks left in August…all my tomatoes are still green and growing. In western Washington and praying for an Indian summer…my whole garden needs it!
September 13 is my birthday.. beautiful garden, beautiful and blissful life. Love you garden..
Curiously….I just made holy basil tea for the first time tonight!!!
That is a mother of Millions and the name is pretty accurate. They can spread on you in a big way. They'll sprout in tough soil and each of those little bead type structures is another plant in waiting.
You aren't supposed to even refrigerate let alone freeze tomatoes if you want to preserve the flavor. Also, real Mexican salsa would be made with Lime juice and have cumin in it if not chili powder also.
I drink basil tea for stomach cramps. I like the smell and the flavor.
I just realized as I watched the video on how to make salsa but I haven’t seen Con in a long time do you still have him he re minded me of my duke
I am so happy to see Daniel I have missed you so much!!!!

Yay Daniel congrats you look wonderful !!!. And congratulations on your new music, Gods Blessing to you both . LOVE YOU JESS……GAIL the 70 year old woman who loves and admirers you and Mia. You guys deserve all your Given with your hard work and Blessed by Jesus and his love for you.
I made your roasted salsa recipe just a few days ago, with 4 lbs of my mixed cherry tomatoes I'd grown, and it ABSOLUTELY IS the bomb. Its life changingly good salsa.
Aw, I didn't know that about the dogs. My beautiful English Bulldog always ran up and bowed that way. She was a gem and lived a long time. anyway- does anyone know if you can let the frozen and scored tomatoes warm up before you slip off the skins? I can touch cold stuff. Thank you for the roasted tomato salsa tip. I am in Illinois and I had so many beautiful tomato starts this year but Our spring was so cold we lost a lot of them waiting to be able to get them in. And we are long time tomato lovers. so sad
Produce from home garden is best , the farmers market is way better than any grocery store I have ever known . Like you say "store bought taste like disappointment ". Yes that is a Mother of Thousands . Beautiful plant .
We have finally gotten rain here on the Oklahoma/Texas border . Now everything is greening back up and I see a couple tomatoes coming on the plants . It seems I always get better tomatoes and more of them late in summer and into early fall . Summers just shrivel and fry them .
