  1. It’s taken me about a month, but I just finished watching all of your videos. You are such an inspiration. Thank you for all you do to help educate us. I found you through a search for zone 8B

  2. Made burgers today for co-workers that were a mix of ground beef, ground venison and ground beef heart. They were fantastic! Heart needs to be trimmed first to get rid of the inedible bits. The beef tongue, properly peeled, is beautifully marbled meat that also makes great burgers!

  3. For washing vegetables – use a small tub or big bowl and fill with water, then add lettuce or what have you. Give it a swirl so water covers all. Leave for 5+ minutes. Bugs will usually float to the top and dirt will go to the bottom, saving water & time. We love our OXO salad spinner, btw.

  4. The tongue in Mexico is as expensive and delicious as the beef tenderloin. Just look for recipes in spanish like: Lengua en salsa verde

  5. We ordered a quarter beef for the first time this spring. It will be going to the processor at the end of the month and we’ll be putting it in the freezer by mid to late September. We’re so excited!

  6. If you want to experiment, oxtail is great for making either oxtail soup (hawaiian version) or taiwanese beef noodle soup. They are similar but not quite the same. I'm fortunate that the H-Mart near me always has oxtail for sale at a really affordable price. It works great in a pressure cooker.

  7. Watch the Hollar Homestead for the pickled tounge recipe. When they have the process completed, they slice it for sandwiches and really seem to enjoy it.

  8. I love your channel but hope u can remodel those ugly white cabinets someday lol and I really think the drawers with glass are for fruit just to make pretty also u might want to line your shelf’s with shelf paper

  9. Becky, the chat about the meat was very helpful. I'm not quite there yet (half cow), but I did (finally) purchased a beef package from Mariposa Ranch. So .. working on it 🙂

  10. Do you ask for trimmings and organ meat you can add with vegetables and vitamins nutrition to turn into fantastic homemade dog food so many dogs suffer because of the food they are feed cancer overdose on Vitamin D and harmful bacteria and it very sad they even use rotten meat unfortunately not regulated well I feed a raw diet just a thought you have 2 very adorable fur babies I have seen the outcome before I did my research for myself and you are using a fantastic meat resource and garden I only use organic vegetables my meat is like butcher box have used Stella and chew meat Pattie’s with raw organic vegetables

  11. If you ever eat cow toung, you boil it and put an onion in the water and put a couple of cloves of fresh garlic and take the skin off same for the onion.Boil it till cooked. When done cut the toung hide,it should just peel off using your hand It is so good, better that roast. My late husband was Mexican and taught me how to cook it
