I've never understood why you don't routinely have clothes lines in the US! You can dry your washing for free, it smells amazing and UV light is a very effective antibacterial. Here in New Zealand, electric dryers are only used if it's raining!

Even if it isn't for drying delicate fabrics, they are wonderful for airing quilts, pillows, and blankets! Nothing compares to the fresh smell of the pillow and snuggled under fresh linens. You are a wonderful husband!
My hub installed a dual fuel clothes dryer this summer (wind & sun ๐ ). It helped me get the outside time to work on my depression. I was able to get grounded standing on the grass. I'm sad we're not going to be able to hang laundry for 5 months during out winter. I'm happy you're doing that for her.

That's great , but you should have built it connected to the back porch so she didn't have to carry the clothes basket out , she could of hung them right from the deck .
You just need a prop for the clothes line. That's what we used when I was a kid back in the 50s in Australia.

You can use a forked branch ot notched 2×4 to prop up the cord in the middle of its span

Another Australian who finds it odd that a clothes line isnt 'the norm' lol, off grid here on our homestead and we have a huge revolving hills hoist out the back and we have lines under the patio for bad weather! ๐
