  1. I stopped by there today at 5:30pm. I would say besides me I only saw about 10 other shoppers for the entire time I was there. Didn’t have to wait to check out, and found a few items I hadn’t seen at mine. It was great!

  2. I’ll tell you what I saw on Saturday in West Knoxville at Turkey Creek target. I live in South Knoxville. And I have my place as I shop from east to west. I was so appalled by the target and the way the people were throwing clothes on the floor when they were done looking at them, not to mention trying to get into the parking lot with two children people running you over honking at you riding your tail trying to run you and your kids over. I watched as these target employees. Worked their butts off to hang up all the items. Had a chat with one of them as they were putting up jeans they were all on the floor. And I hate to kind of say this. But I think it’s an entitlement issue. And that they think that their money can buy whatever.

  3. Patara I have been canning and such for 20 years plus. I have been trying to get people to just start a square foot garden to no avail. They say this Nov everything will be ok–BUT–they don't realize it will take at least 2 years to get back and that's without a war. Thank the LORD I was raised by my grandparent who lived through the depression and taught me what it was like with a month of depression meals and not have all the rest that we take for granted. Bless you and yours-thank you.

  4. I bet this has to do with 'Aldi's' being in an 'affluent' area. I have heard people look down on Aldi's for being cheaper, bagging your own groceries, etc. It's an entitled mindset. It's super sad but it exists.

  5. Our Aldis took about a year before it caught on in our community people shop where they are used to shopping. I had never seen an Aldis before ours came to town, it was probably 6 months before I got curious enough to go check it out.

  6. They have NO IDEA what's going on. I talk to people like that every day. They're watching the "news" and being lied to. They're still on the "back to normal" high – planning european trips, cruises, etc. It's exactly like The Twilight Zone. There are two parallel societies right now. Those of us who see, and those that don't see, what's happening. I see my fellow prepper/scavengers the places I go to stock up.

  7. We started prepping a year ago and we have enough for 2 years now. I still don't think it is enough. I worry about the electrical grid going down even though we live in the middle of the US

  8. Habit. I think they just continue on their shopping ways out of habit. The economy hasn't affected them yet. Aldi is so busy in our community. They will be thankful for it soon I'm afraid. Some of us are just ahead of the game.

  9. I think if Aldi is new in that area, people have to get used to it. I am in a middle/mixed area and no one really tjs about preparing. I have stopped talking about it so I don't become a target down the line.

  10. Costco and Winco in Boise,Id area was slammed today! Checker said it had been like that since opening this morning, and this was around 3pm. It as like Thanksgiving weekend.

  11. The area I grew up in had a grocery store that had been their forever. Eventually another grocery store opened, it plugged along for years…. and Eventually closed. Was the other store cheaper, over all probably. But the other store was just so ingrained in the area that the other store Eventually closed and the one that has been there forever is still their, moving right along.
