I use to go can at the LDS canning and they had the best pearl potatoes I used to bring my own bag of Aug. Milk to can when they let you bring your own bags of food.

Oh, Girl, you are NOT old! My folks were born in the early 1900s, & I was blessed enough to marry a man who was a Depression Era baby. I didn't get to have the influence of my grandfathers, & only one grandmother. The wisdom of those I did have in my life was invaluable. I lost my Darling a little over a year ago; & of course, I miss his love & companionship every minute of every day. BUT I also miss his knowledge, all that he learned through through his life experiences. There was nothing he couldn't do. I so wish he was still here to walk through these times with me. You are a great influence to those who want to benefit from what you have to offer. Let those of the junior high mentality stew in their own messes. The rest of us have better things to do with our time. Thank you for keeping it real, Patara. You're a gift!

It’s so funny how “Non- Believers” think homesteaders/Preppers just started this lifestyle —— I don’t have an actual homestead but I have been prepping for over 20 years – always ensuring my family is prepared for anything that may happen —- Loss of job, illness, inflation —— Just the security right now that I don’t have to pay high prices, that I know how to bake bread/goodies and etc to save costs —- I just don’t understand why people feel the need to constantly try to tear down others to just make themself feel better —- God Bless ——

Petara, I was out of middle school (we called it junior high back then) in the 70s and married not too long after that. We were young and struggling and I learned to make the most of very little. Since those days I've lived in a sort of state of preparedness. We've been married 43 years now and I'm just blown away with the things I see in the world today, so I've been doubling my efforts for the past several years. We're getting older and I'll be 60 in just a few weeks. I don't have the time, energy or will to put up with drama. I'm with you.. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
Very good one, Patera Girl! I've been burned un-called for by every woman I've made friends with, and I'm a young 73 yr old God-fearing lad. I'm balancing being a lone prepper, with cautiously reaching out to others. I know we need community, but don't need no "bushwhackers!"

Way to go Patara! My grandmother,
Was born in the late 1800s, she did not live near us. But in those two weeks each summer I learned so much from her. She never learned to drive, and lived four miles from the nearest little store.
Everyone needs to spend some time, and remember someone in their own childhood, and think about what they learned from thrm.
