  1. In my zone five, it's way too early to start anything. You don't want to start them too early because they get leggy and have a hard time surviving outside.

  2. I'm 9b, already uppotted some of my tomatoes yesterday! I start them around christmas inside on top of my playstation in wet papertowels, and then put them in the window in cells. Since its about 60-65 indoors they grow just enough they dont need stronger lighting. I'm putting them outside a little now with some sheeting plastic to keep them warmer. I do my peppers the same way.

  3. I'm in central Alabama, zone 7B. It is still a bit too early to sow peas where I live. I have good luck direct sowing after February 20th. It has been an unseasonably warm January—still, it is best to wait. I did order live plants today, 25 bare root Seascape Strawberry plants.

  4. Funny… we have had some bizarre weather this winter. A complete week of below freezing without let up,and almost constant howling winds. Odd indeed for SW Indiana.
    Unfortunately,I don’t have a greenhouse,so I have to wait for better weather.
Well, not exactly…. I always start a few plants from seed in my living room, near the window.
Said all of that to say this…. I spent a couple of hours this morning getting the little starter pots filled with soil and brought into the house so the soil can warm.
It seems that gardeners have that longing in their souls about this time of year❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
God Bless you and your family Ben and all of the fellow gardeners in the world ❣️❣️❣️❣️

  5. A bit early here in the Midwest to start.
I like the plastic box idea as long as it does not start mold or mildue. I have tried heavy screens for rodent protection but the little monsters in my area can bench 200Lbs!

  6. Hi Ben, thank you for giving me some hope for Spring! We have 14" of snow on the ground, last night the heater went out in my greenhouse and all the lettuce, geraniums, marigolds and 2 summer squash froze. I needed your wonderful enthusiasm today!

  7. Would they survive outside in a plastic box (in SE England) for those of us who don’t have a greenhouse, or is kitchen windowsill a safer bet?
