I'd be worried about microplastic and chemical leeching in the soil. these things are one use for a reason.
Glue two milk bottle caps together top-to-top. Pierce a small hole through both lids. Cut the bottom off a 1L bottle and screw the lids on. Screw the other end on your 3L potted bottle. Fill the upside down 1L and allow to drip-water the 3L
A bit of an eye sore but nothing keeping you from painting/decorating them
I'm trying to get away from plastic, and I don't want it near my food. It leaches into everything including us. Girls are going into puberty much younger than normal and boys are developing 'breasts' from the plastics that emit estrogen. Just sayin' mate!
I do the same. Saving $$$
I prefer not to eat plastics, growing in plastic is asking for plastic in your foods
Meanwhile Canadians: *cries in plastic bag
The thing is I don't drink breast milk. I'll use my water bottles instead.
I USE 2LT COKE BOTTLES WITH BOTTOMS CUT OFF AS INDIVIDUAL HOT HOUSES. EASY TO STORE ONE IN ONE FOR NEXT SEASON. I DONT DRINK THE POISON THOUGH.
Did you know that all that plastic can be easily and cheaply turned into pure diesel fuel?
Cool idea! I’d be worried about stuff leeching from the plastic into the soil and the food tho :/
brilliant
I like your puns
Plastic leaches into soil ?
I like how they save space
I used too use the gallon ones. Will go back to doing it now that my county is ceasing to recycle anything starting June 1st.
OR – DON'T recycle them. If you have room, string the handles on a piece of rope, slip knot each end & hang from a nail/hook to reuse the next year!
Please do not grow edibles in plastic. The plastic breaks down and leaches chemicals into the soil.
I really like this channel and Mark's tips, but this ain't it. Save yourself that work (and the cancer) and just recycle these immediately. The recycling companies are less likely to recycle these if they're not perfectly clean anyway, so…
I fucking love micro plastics
USA gallons are square.I cut the entire top off leaving me a nice 8 in. tall,6 in wide pot. I don't put them in the recycling,I clean and reuse the next year so I don't have to cut and make drain holes again. same with 2 liter soda bottles. those are perfect for one lettuce in each or herbs.
I’m doing this with stuff from my work. Plastic wire spools. I have 15 and a full garden
Why would you not just keep reusing them? They are good for 100 years!
Love the idea of hanging them all by the handle on a rod, to create vertical gardens! May just do that…
Love my foods with a healthy dose of microplastics
