I was at Rural King at Halls Crossroads on Tuesday and saw that they had hundreds of baby chicks but most of them layer brown eggs.

Hey, what's wrong with black australorps? I have raised these and I love them, always gentle and friendly and those pretty brown eyes. I just saw the two new breeds on a search through what Tractor Supply is getting in this year. Quantities of 10 though and I can't add 10 birds right now! Dang.

We have 2 Sapphire Gems from Hoover. The 2 girls are in the pullet stage right now, they are amazing so far. Nothing like any other Chick/Chicken we have now. Very tactical, excellent foragers, and just so sweet. I know it's early but the family and I have been beyond happy with decision to give these girls a try, they have exceeded every expectation.

We have a golden laced wyandotte rooster that is aggressive to me and now hes starting to get agervating to my wife as well. I hate to turn him into dumplings because he is so pretty but oh well.
