When starting from seed there are just a few that you will never want to start early for any reason at all. They are guaranteed to not do well and are far better direct sown right outside where they can do far better.

Happy belated birthday ….two year later xD
Luke! Thank you for all of your time and effort! I appreciate your consistency and dedication.
Eliot Coleman and Johnny Seeds say transplanting beets is fine unlike most root vegetables.
Thank you! New to gardening here. You just saved me some time, frustration and $$.
Happy belated birthday bro Have a wonderful day and hope all your hopes dreams and wishes came true also wanted to thank you for all the tips that you’ve given me you have really improved me as a gardener
I’ve started pumpkins indoors it turned out good
Thanks for getting to the point when I'm looking for a quick answer!
I am having difficulty with all of your never sow inside! It really depends on a lot of parameters. I do sow zucchini’s indoors, I sow squash indoors, I do sow cucumber indoors , I do sow beets indoors. Pls. check your facts.
This advice should be posted as Op Ed. Root crops, agreed. The rest must be mistakes you’ve made and limited knowledge.
I sow n grow radishes and beetroot every year indoors using multi-sows cell method. Ref: Charles Dowding. Always great results. Only crops I direct sow outdoors is carrot and parsnip.
Was this video before or after you showed us how to grow onions indoors, and then separate to transplant outdoors?
Last year critters ate all my pumpkin seeds. Would it be okay to start them inside just to get them past the yummy chipmonk snack stage?
Great info, thanks. I just read somewhere and now I can’t find it, maybe you can help. I know you said it in the video about squash, I’m curious about this though. If you start squash indoors instead of directly outdoors, they tend to be weaker and more vulnerable to vine borers. Is there any truth to that? Here in south Alabama, vine borers start showing in late June and are really bad
What’s the difference between onion sets and onion plants? Like I shouldn’t start onions inside to transplant at all or just the tubular ones? I have some white onion I was going to plant for seedlings…
I do lettuce indoors in large pots and then move the pots outdoors. I never transplant lettuce just move the pots.
Happy Birthday… three years and three months belated..LOL
So what can I star inside under lights in peat pellets (tomorrow) ? I just bought everything I need to start seed and now I hear this… Im thinking tomatoes and peppers but I dont want 72 of just peppers and tomatoes… when should I start all of the seeds you mentioned, outside? And when do I plant flower seeds? Springfield Missouri, I think im in 7
Ok so I bought onions, lettuce, & spinach, from lowes. I was going to pot them in bigger pots. Should I still do that?
My birthday is January 21, born in 2000
i gave you a thumps down as always because your annoying,
Mans just listed every plant I'm starting inside
I never bother starting some of these early indoors because they can be started easily outdoors and still have time to mature. I just don't want to bother with it because it's a pain to babysit them, transplant them, harden them off, bring them in and out in bad weather, etc. I do winter sow some in jugs but there is a lot less babysitting to do that way. With those I go right from jug to dirt and if we get a late frost or freeze I just throw a blanket over them 🙂
I don't celebrate because of paganism but hope you have a nice day everyday Praising Yahuah for this breath of life every single day.
You won't believe this but I actually had a bit of success moving a cluster of beets(outside only though)
I start the squash family indoors because it even colder here than in MI. I am very careful taking out of the pots.
What about starting and transferring some of these in peat pots? Things that disintegrate once they are in the ground, so you don't have pull the plant out of a container, or worry about damaging the roots?
