Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started SSM in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Perfect for a mine shaft to prevent the dirt wall from falling in.
"It's a horrible day today. It's been raining for the last two days".
I live in Seattle. That's all I have to say.
5:20 Pup watering the garden – "It ain't much, but it's honest work."
And in Europe? Is there anything like this available in the European union? I can't find any.
Thank you Mark for all your efforts searching for us in North America.
Found on line a company called Ferguson selling corrugated metal piping like Corrugated aluminum in many sizes . 30 inch by 20 foot is like 900.00 dollars . just cut to size .
Just buy galvanized roofing in 8ft or 12ft sheets
For the people in the USA. Livestock troughs and watering troughs work well. for round or oblong shapes you could also piece together 2 window well inserts making sure to seal the seam with gutter calk. Tractor supply and some of your local farm and ranch supply outlets or building supply outlets will have what you need.
D&B supply in pacific northwest will have stock tanks. Atwoods in the Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Look for your local farm and ranch supply.
5:20 WATCH THE DOG! LOL
They are corrugated culvert pipes cut to 2' lengths You can get them from 1' to 10' diameter in single piece. This is in the USA

Kevin Espiritu of Epic Gardening was selling raised garden beds in America, from what I heard in one of his videos. I'm not sure if he still does it. Worth checking out.
Here, in the USA I could only find round beds with a height of 1' to 1.5 ' in height on Amazon. Your galvanized round beds look to be 3' or higher in height which would greatly minimize backaches resulting from bending. You would think that since so many ppl in the USA are interested in saving their backs and like these nice round ones that a manufacturer in the states would jump on meeting the demand
over here.
Now, 2021, Kevin from Epic Gardening is selling Birdie’s Beds. He is the only Birdie’s Beds rep in the U.S., I believe. He’s been selling them for couple of years, and he is a friend of Mark’s. A lot of knock-offs being made are from China. Birdie’s is from Australia.
5:21 Good doggie =)
Atwoods sell them calling them bacl yard firepits
They will sell them in the USA for triple the price and half the quality

If you connect earth wires to your colour-bond beds and then connect a sacrificial anode, and change the anode when it’s needed then they will never rust.
