We had a small rat problem around on of our feeder in our chicken pen but when our rat trap failed we sort help from a true professional called Diamond Back 🙂
It’s a risky game accepting this type of help to rid our pen of rodents but sometimes a man needs to take a chance – who dares wins…

That also is a salutary warning about rats attracting venomous snakes. We do have bucket loads of tigers, blacks and copperheads. I spent more than $100 on rat bait before we got numbers down to a minimum.
WOW! Mark, when I first read Diamond Back – I was thinking Diamond Back Rattlesnake – like we have out West here in the U.S. No rattles – but what a HUGE snake! Didn't even know there was a Python by that name! Watching your videos are just as good as watching something from National Geographic! Thanks Mark!

Oh my goodness! I would freak out! LOL I do have to admit that it has to be somewhat good for getting rid of rats, which I hate even more, so it's not all bad. It was actually a beautiful snake, and for me, that is really saying something.
Thank goodness for a better solution, I don't think I could handle knowing there were rats in my yard.
There are several solutions for rats on Youtube, and the best one I have seen by many, are the ones that tape, or attach a board across a bucket filled with water and it has bait attached to it. The stick/board, that the rats climb on is greased, and when they try to get to the food, they slip into the bucket and die. SEVERAL came back to buckets FULL of mice or rats, It seemed to work for huge numbers of Youtubers. Try looking them up, it may work for you too.
I know the that making that huge yard safe, is going to be a long process, but it will be so worth it in the end. my motto is
"Do a little, but do it often" it really works. Don't look at the size of the job, do it in small pieces. It takes longer, but takes the pressure off when otherwise, all you can think about is how huge the job is. It's not huge, it's just a bunch of little jobs. LOL It really works for me. I would die if I came across one of those LOL We have only garter snake around here, totally armless also but much smaller! They are always welcome in my gardens 😉
That is one big python, definitely would solve your rat problem but very dangerous to the chooks as well.
I've always wondered if those traps worked. I guess if there's food on the outside they're less likely to go in. I lost 5 guinea fowl chicks to a python. They're pretty docile when they've had a big feed hey!
