VIDEO: Snowshill Manor Gloucestershire

During the summer of 2019, I paid a visit to Snowshill Manor a lovely Cotswold manor house owned by the National Trust.
The house contains an eclectic collection of thousands of objects, gathered over the years by Charles Paget Wade, whose motto was “Let nothing perish”.
The garden at Snowshill was laid out by Wade, in collaboration with Arts and Crafts movement architect, M. H. Baillie Scott, between 1920 and 1923. Their elaborate layout resembles a series of outside rooms seen as an extension to the house. Features include terraces and ponds, and the gardens demonstrate Wade’s fascination with colours and scents. As well as formal beds, the gardens include an ancient dovecote, a model village, kitchen garden, orchards and small fields with sheep
I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed filming and visiting Snowshill Manor.

  1. Nice visit Adam an interesting place, never heard of it before so thanks for the introduction. The place is really a reflection of Charles Paget Wade an eccentric architect by all accounts. I have met a few of them in my time. A follower of the Arts and Crafts movement I believe. Take care Mike

  2. Adam, I think that "windmill" at the beginning, is equivalent to what we call a "whirlygig". Just a handmade, handcrafted item to show the wind direction. I would have loved to have seen that one in action. Love the walk way and herbaceous border. Thank you for the great tour. Enjoy the day! Catherine
