This is a simple tank, easy to set up and maintain, and would be perfect in a kid’s bedroom or in an office. The idea behind aquaponics is that the waste products from the fish fertilize the plants growing above the tank. And the plants help keep the water cleaner by absorbing the fish waste as nourishment. Hi noooo! No female companion and especially no male beta companion. The other name for this fish is called fighting fish.they kill each other when you put them in a tank together. They can also be quite happy alone.Thank you for your video
Make sure whatever fish you get for the betta doesn't look like a betta. Their other name is siamese fighting fish aka if u have more than one male they may kill each other also they are known to harm female bettas as well. If you want friends for the betta I recommend a nerite snail. They are least likely to get attacked and don't breed in freshwater so no out of control snails.
I recommend you watch some fish keeping videos for your betta to live long. Lastly if u add a plant in the fish tank you are sapping some nutrients away from the plants on top.
Lastly use the website aqadvisor to see if you can even add any more mates they have a good formula based on tank size and pump also tells you how much water to change weekly.

Careful if you get more some fish fight males fight
A 3 gallon tank normally can't support many fish, not sure with plants in the mix. Be careful about what type of fish to add, some are not good in a community tank. The Rasboras that you showed in the video would be okay as would zebra, cardinal or neon tetra, Platys, or guppies. No more Siamese Fighting Fish, Tiger Barbs, Gourami. or most Cichlids. And NEVER use soap to clean.

That tank is WAY too small for a goldfish. If your betta is anything like mine, he'll murder anything you put in there with him.

You know, the seeds are so packed with energy that the sprouts don't need any fertilizer for the first month. The speed of germination is not related to the nutrients in the water. Heat speeds the germination process. If these seeds were exposed to a warm room, they will sprout faster. Also, the nutrients in your husband's aquarium are most-likely very low due to the heavy plant growth. Bettas are tropical fish and slowly suffer IF the water temperature is below 72F. Their habitat is quite warm in nature. I always felt this type of product is a lot of work and uses a small amount of energy (water pump) simply to sprout seeds.
