You are so right about giving the kids responsibility and work ethic. We need more of that in kids today. Hugs Patera❤️
I just started home school my kindergartener daughter this year and I SO needed this video. Thank you!
Our oldest is in college this year and talking with her she says the homework is numerous hours daily. It's good you are "old school" and having homework does condition them for college. Thank you for sharin' today, you are amazin' as always. 🙂
Hey you are describing my homeschool
Excellent video! My oldest is only in 3rd grade, so I am very flexible in my days. But the canning season is hard!!! So we usually wait until after Labor Day to officially start school.
Hello Great video. Thank you.
Excellent info. We just started homeschooling this year and are loving it so far!
Thanks for sharing
A+ explanation.
Good on ya. My son has three kids..i looked into Common Core (how to 'correctly' add 5 + 9, and nearly passed out. They are now teaching gender neutrality, multi-gender, gender neutral bathrooms etc etc. I wish there was an organization with you and other women with a GD backbone could make/write an acceptable general curriculum grade 1-9 or so to further dedicated parents to home school. The DOE and public schools across the land have gone to the toilet. Keep these great posts up, I'm sending this to my kids.
Patera, you make me want to homeschool. All my children are grown. They all attended public school. My three girls all have learning disabilities. My son struggled. I never thought that I was smart enough to homeschool.
Homeschooling has been consistently producing top Ivy-league students. Nearly 4% of those students are home-schooled.
Excellent testimony. Thank you!
Great insight & information for parents who homeschool. Love watching your videos, Miss P~
Patara ..Thank you so much for sharing all of this info. I've been wanting to home school my children for the past couple years. Every time I speak to my family, friends or even the teachers, about starting it they immediately discredit me, I believe for multiple reasons , my friend said she was home schooled and hated it and has hinted she sees me as an uneducated hillbilly and that I shouldn't pull them away from their friends at school. The teachers I believe think I'm always on the computer. Probably because my kids tell their teachers I didn't help them with __ because I'm always on the computer, as an excuse..(over half the time I have no Idea when my kids even have homework or a project, btw) 😛 My parents think I shouldn't get into it and will throw every doubt I have back at me to discourage me..(They think I'm crazy because I hate T.V. …sounds silly I know lol… also I try to live a simple, modest, and moral life). My reasons for wanting to home school vary ..the main reason being is they are currently in what has been called a "glorified daycare center"..by a teacher mind you! My 5th grader still struggles with simple math ..2nd-3rd grade level . 🙁 ..My 2nd grader should've been in the 3rd grade this year..long story. I always viewed the school as ..They are supposed to teach so I'll stand down and let them. I don't know the new common core methods of math and I tried teaching my son the old school methods but his teacher all but jumped my breeches because it wasn't the way SHE/the state wanted them to do it. A couple other reasons I want to home school them is to give them more of an individualized education and teach them life skills and not just memorization, I'm sick of the morally questionable ideals that they push, as well as the focus on the state taking over the parental role, and I want them to learn how to think for themselves and not be taught what to think. :/ Anyway, ..Sorry for the very long comment and backstory but I need some advice. I live in Middle Tenn. could you possibly share a list of resources for Tn. home schooling? Also, do you have any advice for the newbie teacher/mom just starting out. Hitches you may have run into with enrolling your kids, testing for state standards and anything else you can share with me would be such a blessing. Thank you again for taking your time out to read this novel of a comment! >.< <3
thanks for sharing how you homeschool you children !!
I love your farm!!!!!
Great video!! I agree with using the Apoligia Science, we absolutely love it.
As a retired public elementary teacher I say good for you. Not everyone can do it, but it can be done very successfully. My best reason? So much time is wasted in school monitoring things that teachers are overworked. Children who are homeschooled don’t have to wait.
High School Class Ring, Sports, Prom, how do you get the children involve? School, are they helpful when it comes to the above ?S
Good job!
I really enjoyed this video. We are planning to start homeschooling after we move this summer, and truthfully the planning is what I'm afraid of most. It was interesting to hear you say about anxiety. My kids are 8, 7, and 6 and my daughter (8) has anxiety over public speaking and I think it holds her back in school. Also, my youngest son has ADHD and I'm hoping it will help him as well. Lastly, I'm glad to hear you say about Saxon. My kids school uses Saxon and I love it. I actually enjoy sitting and doing their homework sheets with them, LOL.
We are finally getting the hang of homeschooling two years into it. We have found that we like schooling year round. I remember hating trying to keep all that information through 3 months off. We spread it out by doing 4 days a week and taking a little more time at holidays and or special family times. It really helps us live a less "fast paced" lifestyle too. It's a lot of work but we LOVE homeschooling!
Patara good on you! I really wish I wld of homeschooled my kids when they were little. I love your channel, thanks for all the fun and informative information you put out there.
Your'e beautiful !
Fascinating perspective and explanation. Thanks for the awesome video!
Thank you for sharing. We are 5 years in and still struggle . I love your enthusiasm!!
Thank you for this!!! This is exactly how I want to raise my kids. It’s so refreshing to hear a homeschool mom day it’s about more than curriculum.
