How do you support the branches especially when the tomatoe starts to weigh them down?
Dude it's now 2021 people are making mask there is a pandemic, save that stuff, it will be great for reselling. Don't you wish that you could go back in time and tell these utubers what is going to happen.
I grew up w/ parents who used panty hose for ties in the garden. I do same. It dries quickly , no worries about fungus, gentle & has a little stretch.
First glance at the thumbnail image for this video makes it look like this guy is literally planted inside his tomato bed.
Surely this is a massively environmentally unfriendly. All that nylon, probably only used once.
I'm trying to figure out why this got 2.4k thumbs down…
I tried it…. It didn't change my life. Americans are so full of it.
This video cld have been 30 seconds lol
You have a phenomenal grasp of the obvious
Hey, thanks for the tip ! I’ve been wondering what I was going to do ! I’m trying it !
Longwinded explanation of how to be wasteful. Use an old rag. It is being repurposed, breaks down and can be re-used much easier when compared to nylon.
I have been using this for the last 2 years ,at the end of the season I untie them and reuse them for the next year
:13 huh?
Dude the video is just "Buy Nylon string and tie up your tomatoes" Congrats, your life has changed.
Ok
We just tie tomatoes loosely with twine directly above a node. They mostly support themselves, so they can just lean on the twine of they need it. The node stops the twine from slipping down, and since it's loose, it can't choke the plant. Also, twine is 100% biodegradable.
It helps to think outside the box.
Love your channel! But I just use ribbons that I’ve saved from holiday gifts, and use them over and over. Although not stretchy, I tie then with a little bit of room to grow, and it works Geary. No need to purchase something new!
Thank you for the story.
I'm worried the twine would be too abrasive and would scratch my plants as the slide up it when growing or when brushing against it when windy. This I fear would cause wounds/damage from the scratches. This in turn would make it more susceptible to diseases and pests. Cotton string would be softer but fear it'd become mildewy/moldy from retaining water and be too heavy from the water weight. What would be the safest string/twine/tape, etc. to use then? Help!
Thanks for sharing, I bought a roll of this when making masks this year and then stores started selling them and I quit making and wearing them. Now I hand all this elastic I didn't know what to do with! Thanks!
y not just tie them up with cut off branches?
or you could use old panty hose
How long has it held up to heat
Doing this for years. It also makes a great, flexible way to support heavy, fruit laden branches when not single stemming.
Hi Buddy do you only use one stake per plant?
They also sell green very flexible garden tie string bendable!
Tried this last year, but as the fruit got heavier and heavier, the whole thing sagged all the way to the ground. How do you prevent that?
That's awesome looks like you're grown a freakshow marijuana plant on the bottom right screen that's awesome
