  1. I make mine just like this but add brandy (1/2 the amount of finished syrup) when it cools down. This will preserve it long term and won't have to be refrigerated. Good for shtf.

  2. first: sorry for my english. I'm a swiss woman 😉 we had made elderberry syrup, too. but mostly "White" (from the flowers) and, of course, we have a few own elderberry-trees 😉  but sometimes the jam doesn't go over/fold (?) and then it has give black syrup 😉

  3. Excellent recipe! Can this be preserved with the canning process, for long shelf storage, or would you recommend drying the berries and making a little at a time when needed.

  4. I just made some for my family and can't wait to see it work. My husbands been sick for 6 weeks and just can't kick this virus and my youngest son has been sick for a week already. I took a dose myself and at a spoonful of the berries for extra measure. Thank you for the recipe!!

  5. I made my first batch of elderberry syrup and it is so good I did add two tablespoons of echinacea tea from organic echinacea tea bags and only 3/4 cups of honey. Even then it was really sweet!! But the kids love it!!

  6. AWESOME THANKS!!!! I didn't know they could be bought dried!!!! Hon you just helped a sick neighbor. Elderberries are almost magic & now no waiting!!!! Ain't no city talking head here is there.

  7. I am planting elderberry bushes this weekend!! They arrived a couple days ago, and look perfectly healthy to plant. I am so excited!!!! I have my area picked and almost ready to plant, and hopefully in a couple years we will be harvesting yummy berries for wine and jelly and and and…so exciting!!

  8. I got extremely sick after eating a lot of yummy raw elderberries, but my friend did not. Best I could figure it was a teeny bit of a stem or a not completely ripe berry. Close to an emergency trip to the hospital. I took very large amounts of B complex and ate a few cheese tortillas. Repeated antidote the next day. "Do your research". (Love the elderberry gummies.)

  9. I have been making & taking elderberry tincture for at at least five years. I have never had the flu or a flu shot & I haven't had a cold for six years. I used to take it November through March, but am taking it year round for now. Staying healthy!
