VIDEO: The things you get excited about (All the progress) | VLOG

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. The fountain area is beautiful jess! Keep in mind the splashing from the fountain when you pick some sort of micro cover. Maybe some kind of moss? I don't know but I know I ended up having to move all my plants away from my fountain. They just stayed too wet all the time!

  2. Wonder if I can shade cloth for my green house bc when hit 80 its 100 in there even with fans and door open. Rt now all my tomato starts and peppers on a wagon out on the open bc was too hot but lovely ky weather tom after the rain it will to cold and back in green house. And yes I so take but load of pics of the garden lol just to see the days and my kiddo I've almost out of space on my phone and Gmail cloud. Yikes

  3. Love the idea of the back to eden style garden. We have been going beaumont and getting low boy trailers of city yard waste. It looks like your pile there. Praying it does well. I used rough stuff to cover the ground and walk on. Shifted out alot to cover what soil I used last year. This year so far is looking very well compared to last yr. And the fence is a major game changer. I couldn't compete with the wild life last year. Keep smiling . It's a great day to be above the grass. God bless. Be safe.

  4. Sometimes I really wish I could get your vision on my 1/3 acre space, because I can't see what I want the way you've visualized your property.

  5. I agree 100% with watching and learning from people in other zones. I am in Zone 4b in Montana and we had snow two days ago. But I still learn so so much from you and other who share their knowledge with all of us.

  6. Jess, My late husband was a tree surgeon, and I believe he would clean out the cavity and fill it with some kind of a foam fill. He would also give micro injections at the base of the tree to give it more time. I am not a tree surgeon, so you might find one and pick his brain. I may be wrong, that is just what I remember him doing. Injections must be purchased by a Arborist with a induction license. Good Luck, and Blessing for your tree.

  7. I am sure every English person will suggest creeping thyme for your new paved area. It grows well in the hot and dry South of France so it may well work for you – the smell when you walk over it is intense. A huge amount of progress in a year – astonishing and inspiring.

  8. Although avian (bird) influenza (flu) A viruses usually do not infect people, there have been some rare cases of human infection with these viruses. Illness in humans from bird flu virus infections have ranged in severity from no symptoms or mild illness to severe disease that resulted in death.Mar 10, 2022

  9. Does Corsican mint grow where you are? It’s marvelous between flagstones here in Northern California so a different climate. In any case, it’s going to be gorgeous!

  10. Hi Jesse & Mia.
