  1. Man those currants look delicious, are you planning on providing currant seeds from your store soon? I'm Ive been tossing around the idea of growing them for awhile now

  2. My great Grandma always made currant jelly…one of my cherished childhood memories. Planted 5 bushes this year and looking forward to the future.

  3. We use to have 4 gooseberry bushes that were close to 100 years old but the last one died last year. We will be getting more this fall and I would love to see what you do with your gooseberries. We just snacked on ours as we walked by them. Those red currants look awesome for jelly.

  4. I wanted to point out what red currant acctually taste like! So its hard to describe it if you dont know this but red jolly ranchers get their flavor from red currant and red currants taste identical to red jolly ranchers without the intense sweetness! The after taste especially tastes just like red jolly ranchers!

  5. Coastal black gooseberry tastes like a cross beetween goose berry and black current! It only has a hint of the herbal flavor giving it the tiniest spice taste while being rly sweet!

  6. Red currant jelly was the only jelly my Mom would use when she made a jelly roll. We did not grow them, but store bought was okay. Our, now retired custodian @ church who was from Eastern Europe, (the part of the world with all of the fighting these days…) had every color currant imaginable. This was a memory of his homeland.

  7. I've been wanting to grow currants and gooseberries for a long time, but I have hundreds of different Pine trees and don't want to take the chance some of them are susceptible to the disease.

  8. Are currants invasive? Hmm…going to research currants a little more to see if I want to plant some. I love the black currant jelly I've purchased locally. Yes, I did learn something new. Thanks!

  9. Hi Luke! I had a red currant bush that produced for nearly 20 years. Sadly this year, the bush didn’t produce and looks like it’s dying.
Can I ask you where you got your birthday shes? I‘d love to replant red and white currant bushes. Thank you in advance.

  10. Hey Luke, great video. Thanks! If you mix four parts red current juice to one part sugar it makes a nice syrup to add to club soda for a refreshing summer drink. Had a bumper crop this year so am needing to get creative.

  11. Hey there! I was wondering where to get a black currant bush? I love them, but can only get them sundried from Wholefoods. I would prefer fresh to make sorbet out of them and thinking of growing it inside.
