  1. Hey Becky, about your kitchen organizing.. while unpacking after moving I find it is best to just find a place for the things.. So that the clutter and boxes are out of the way… Once you start working in your kitchen more and more am sure you will find a system to organize your spices and baking supplies that will work for you the best. However, removing a few things from the baking supplies drawer so that everything sits better and doesn't topple over will work out better for you as things won't be falling out of place every time you pull out that drawer.

  2. Becky, your new home is great. Love that wall down.Does herbs and spices do well in the light. I notice your pantry is nice and bright also. That's just something to look in to.
    You had the sweetest look on your face when you got dinner done. Keep the videos coming!

  3. Just my opinion, but mac 'n cheese with whole grain macaroni doesn't quite appeal to me. I do think there are other dishes which could be made with the whole grain pasta, such as casseroles with ground beef/tomatoes/cabbage, etc. I have a "general recipe" which is supposed to be Amish in which you start with a stick of melted butter in the bottom of a large glass casserole pan. Then you place a cup of rice over the melted butter. I think instead of rice, you could use that whole grain pasta. After that, brown ground beef in a big chef skillet, (maybe about 1-1/2 pounds,) drain excess fat, add one chopped onion and continue sauteing. Add plenty of minced garlic and whatever spices appeal to you – some suggestions are oregano, basil, thyme, caraway and fennel seed. From there, add whatever suits . . . canned diced tomatoes, sliced carrots, cut up pieces of green beans, frozen corn kernels, etc. . . . whatever you have on hand. Continue to simmer. The final essential element is sliced cabbage . . . maybe about one-half of a medium head. Add that to the other ingredients in the big chef skilet and cook until the cabbage softens. Lasty, salt, pepper, and if you desire for all that cabbage and tomatoes, a teaspoon or so of sugar, but not too much. You could add some Worchestershire sauce, too, if you like. Do it your way! Pour a can of reduced sodium beef broth, (or homemade,) maybe some water, and cover the casserole with foil and bake at 350 F for about an hour. We always enjoy this casserole – it is very satisfying. And I think it would be awesome with the whole grain pasta instead of rice.

  4. You may want to hang on to any extra stainless steel ware for now. My kids had a habit of taking it outside to play . I didn't approve of this but kids are sneaky little buggers. They especially liked the spoons for the sandbox even though they had tons of sandbox toys. If you find a new set you like you could buy two sets so you can replace them. I just bought mine at second hand stores so very few matched but it was kinda fun

  5. For myself, I would put the spices into small jars to keep in the kitchen and the bulk in the basement. I would rather see the small jars than big jars that would make the area look small. As for the jars in the upper cabinets, I would put them in a tub/basket/or box so when I need to take them down or put them up after washing, I would only have to get the tub instead of standing there all that time to put jars away or take down one at a time. I would rather just pull the tub down or load the tub and put it back up in the cabinet. My uncle gave me a tip years ago on organizing a kitchen, keep your serving bowls and platters next to the stove so they are within reach when needed, so I put them in my upper cupboards. And put the pots and pans in the lower cupboards next to the stove. I was very young but still laugh at the thought of a man having great ideas for organizing a kitchen. LOL!

  6. would recommend putting the spiced in the spice rack. It looks cute on display, but they won't stay good for as long when they're exposed to light/heat.

  8. I like the jars on the shelf, whichever jars you decide. You live in a functional kitchen. Keep it functional. Many of your spices have come from your garden, so be proud of them and keep them in easy reach

The Lovely kitchen looks amazing, you will probably move things around until you get it how you like it I have lived in my home for 40 years and often change things around. don't discard too many as you may decide you need them. I plated radishes yesterday and these types germinate quickly. i have bout onions and mini cucumbers, and pumpkin seeds too you are so inspiring Becky. love it. love to you all xxx

  10. In your place, I would put the most used in easy access, on the upper shelf. Those less used, or that are just not as pretty to look at, I would hide away.

  11. I love the “spice” shelf look. I would feel very excited to see all my hard work of harvest season on display and ready for use. It’s something you should feel proud to see every day…plus it allows you to know what you use the most and what you need to grow/harvest more of.

  12. I like the spices out on the lil shelf in quart jars,not really a fan of the fido jars since the color of the rubber is my least favorite. I like how you used the cutlery drawer for canning lids and bands

  13. Your spices show cased on the shelf is beautiful. I think if you put them in the smaller jars in the slide out, it would be a pain in the butt bending over to see what you have. Plus you'd have to refill them more often.

  14. If I had that little shelf all the way around, it would BE my spices shelf. I hate digging for them even in a good setup…and I think they are pretty. You cook waaaaay too much for the little phyto jars, IMO. But what I would do if I were you is put all spices in the Butler's Pantry. Every time you need (and have to go get one) it goes on the shelf. After the shelf is full, every time you need/get one, it goes on the lazy Susan top shelf. When that is full move to the pull out. When that is full move to the bottom shelf of the lazy Susan. That way, the stuff you need the most often is the very most convenient. Also, if/when YT isn't viable anymore, you could open a catering company. Just tell the staff how to do all the things! 🙂 It's so good to see you two settling in in the ways that are true to your channel. Moving was fun, but getting back to "you" is fabulous!

  16. Hey Becky…did I see Duke's Mayo in a box? If so that is the BEST for tomato sandwiches. Just a thought about the random cutlery…save them for lunchboxes/picnics etc, so you don't take the good stuff and you don't need to use the plastic.
