Is it worth it to spend $75 on tree pruners or buy $7 ones? What are the differences between the two, and can we justify spending 3/4 of $100 on one pair of pruners? Let’s find out!

I need a new pair of pruning shears, but 75 bucks is a lot of money to me. Isn't there something better than the Chinese ones that is maybe somewhere in the middle. Surely there are American companies that make pruners?
thanks for great video God Bless
Going with the F7 over the F11 now. Thanks for the demo. Looks like it will work for me since you are tall and have big hands too. Love the rotating handle and I think it's worth the extra money. Just got my first tree order in for Spring. Starting my food forest this spring and it's been a lot of work to get prepped. Thanks for all your informative and inspiring videos!
I've had my Felco pruner for 28 years. Best garden tool investment I ever made.
Big value. Thanks for sharing
75 dollars pruner I will never be able to purchase that. Too expensive. Maybe I’m just poor.
I find that good quality tools are always easier to work with and it feels great to use them…I have a Swiss peeler I bought 30 years ago still very sharp and easy to use…I always make the investment in good tools as they are a pleasure to work with and last for a very long time…blessings from Australia
I stopped buying all Chinese made tools a long time ago, it's just cheaper in the long run to buy once and buy the best you can afford.
I own the Felco 2 and need a second pair. I was thinking about getting the #7's but some people who bought them report the rotating handle can be a bit awkward at times…it would be nice to hear your thoughts on it after using it this spring.
A good pair of secateurs go a long way, especially in a food FOREST. I'm a cheap person myself and can't justify $75 on secateurs. However, I got some from my brother for Christmas that is pretty high-end compared to mine. His make a nice clean cut with almost no force it's crazy! The cheapo ones I have are like dull and kind of push/pinch the three together rather than severing it. I highly suggest if you have a food forest you invest in some good secateurs, its night and day compared to the cheap Chinese ones that are dull and flimsy.
Awesome vid as always James, I always get a good feeling, oooh yeah when I watch your videos. ^^
I’ve been looking for a new pruner, thanks for the demonstration….if you don’t send them to me I’m definitely going to buy a Felco pair
Too much difference to compare a $75. to a $7.00 I don't think it's a fare comparison.
Another great video, if u guys haven't subscribed to this guy yet do it NOW!!!
I can't find the video you did where you compared the free tools you got in the mail to the ones you had purchased. Can you post the link?
You have inspired me to start my own food forest in my backyard. Thank you for your contribution to society and a more sustainable planet. I would like to start some vegetables from seed this year. Do you have any recommendation for seed catalogs you prefer?
Same for me! Definitely want to invest in tools. Ever since I spent more on better quality, chores aren't chores. They're fun! I have mainly Fiskars since I go to Home Depot and can only get mid-range items for now. Would love a Felco. I heard that first smooth cut through. It's so satisfying!
So happpy to see other people promoting the felcos, ive been using them for years and they where single best purchase i made for my allotment they are the onyl thing thats never been replaced
im a Corona (not the beer) guy
Try Ars vs8z pruners from japan. Top Quality steel and great squeeze release function. Also please test the soft cutting performance. The ars cut fresh green super Young soft stems without any crushing. You can get on ebay usually for around $40, but need to be patient as they come from Japan. I have nothing to do with the company just love the pruners. You might even put your felcos in your pocket after u try the ars. I'm happy to bring mine down to test if you have any interest. Fellow NJ guy from Monmouth County. Thanks for your great vids.
Been watching since 30k its great to see how far you have come!
Swiss, German and swedish blades are the best 🙂
I just some but didn’t care for the ergo type got the regular ones
can i borrow those to prune up my apple trees, wont have them long, only five to left to do,,,???????
Nice! I was wondering if i should buy some good ones. I got some cheap ones at walmart that barely work after one year. Think they are cheap fiskers. But ill get me some felcos
If you have small hands, try the Felco #13. They have longer handles so the leverage helps when you don’t have a lot of hand strength. Felcos are Quality.
If the branch is a bit thicker don't just squeese harder but also move the tool up and down so it can cut easier.
When you are using a knife to cut something you make a back and forth motion, instead of only putting pressure on it without any motion.
I love felcos, have a few pairs of them
I got some ractcheting pruners off QVC. They last for awhile.
I've had my Felco pruners for about four years and am very protective of them. I have probably another 10 pairs of pruners that I let the high school students use on my Christmas tree farm, but they don't get to touch my Felcos. I've found a decent pair of Stihl pruners for about $18 and I buy one or two pairs of them each year for the kids to use.
