I got a lot of those crates for my raised beds at a farm auction! Glad to see you using them. Thanks for the tips!
Last year I put in a wooden shipping crate for a raised bed. It allowed me a place to put my fall leaves and a place to compose. It worked extremely well. It helped with keeping chipmunks from digging up my plants. I will be adding 10 more this season I will let you know how it goes.
My wife and I enjoy listening to and watching this man educate us about better gardening! He knows his subject, and he presents it so very well. Thank you!!!
you are smile even when you speak
Love that my whole yard has mainly sun if they get shade it's mainly from what I put in.
Few inches of cardboard tiny twigs on top the fill with compost etc
So that's who voices the geico lizard lol
Don't mind me, just a Canadian here unable to suppress laughter at the mention of "winter crops"
2:23. The companion planting is something I would like to try this year. I hear Tomato doesn't go well with Raspberry. Is this true?
Hope my veg make me as jolly as this bloke.
My first spring of retirement. I may have gone a little overboard. I love the app, it's been a great help. I've built 4 raised beds and I use the app for everything from planting times to companion plant information. BTW, I sized the paths between the beds to fit my rolling seat. I'm really looking forward to the flavor upgrade that's about to hit my kitchen.
Where do you get the soil to fill all those raised beds? Our local landscape supplies sells it by the pickup truck load for $30 but that's just enough for 1 bed.
I'm moving after 32 years in one home. Wanting to incorporate chickens into the garden. Any plans? Ideas? Ideally, I'd like the garden and chickens to share the same fenced in plot, with the chickens having run of half of it while I garden on the other half. Then, switch them every year. That way, the chickens can free range, eating insects and their eggs, while depositing fertilizer.
I just hit like at the beginning of the video because of the cheerful way in which he was smiling.
Love this channel
Great video – thank You. I'd love some tips on how to maintain the borders of beds in a lawn, especially to stop the grass invading the vegetable beds
Thank you for the tips, very helpful
I love your videos as they are short and right to the point! Keep up the great work!
Just want to thank you for the channel. Just moved from a 10th floor box in the sky, to a nice house with 1/2 acre. I fancy trying this all out, and have been learning a bunch from the videos. Just have to take the plunge now… bit confused about where and how to start… but figure, I"ll start small, with a few easier things, and grow and develop!! No time like the present with this virus wreaking havoc. Thanks again for the content. Hoping you and your family are healthy….
Regarding raised beds, your local scaffold company has to change their boards from time to time and will either sell or give you them. They will need to be treated with a plant friendly preservative before you fill the beds. Three standard boards will make two 2m x 1m raised beds, the corners can be made with galvanised L shaped strip from building suppliers.
How do you deal with a sprinkler system? I want to put some raised beds in the center of my lawn. Any ideas on how to water the grass paths between beds as well as the surrounding lawn without "sprinkling" the veggies?

I'm just starting out, again haven't had a veg garden for over 45 yrs, now semi retired, something to work for. going for raised beds, have plenty of old wood and a childs climbing frame to use up, what's the best size for raised beds length & height etc, what do you recommend for my first year soil pretty crap, clay'ish and thoughts or comments grateful appreciated
3:39 what are those cone shaped green-purple thingies please?
Very helpful garden tip, I'm going to roll around in my garden as soon as I can, let's be YouTube mate?
I like this video. I am a new owner of a patch of land 38m2. This is my 2nd season coming up 2021. I have never planed a garden before. My tomato's last year gave little to no fruit but the Jerusalem artichoke loved it. What and how do I select what to grow?
Thanks so much for your videos! Learning big time! All the best Paul!
I would really like to start gardening my own vegetables this year. Thanks for your videos & tips.
