What kind of hose are you using? It looked really thin and not round but couldn't tell for sure. Thanks. Great video!
Onions and garlic like some lime.
I love it!! I do a modified Ruth Stout also. I add the leaves into my growing mounds.I go around my neighborhood and take bags of leaves left for the trash to pick up. I use straw instead of hay. I also add Goat poo- which I have found to be brown gold!! Sometimes I just lay a mound of Goat poo and plant in that. My squash was unbelievable with this Goat poo mound method last year. What I especially like about learning this permaculture Ruth Stout method is that it really blocks out the Bermuda grass which is the devil around here. If a sprig of Bermuda does make it to the top of the growing layers, it can be easily pulled up because it can't make itself twisted and glued in to the area-the way it does into plain soil.
How do you get the hay not to blow away? And would the hay have the same effect as a green house? thx
I like your illustrations. they really help 😀 thanks for your videos!
To get a square: pythagorus theorem.
I tried this last fall, most of them have come up already and growing well.
hey guys, just stumbled upon this video in my recommended list. Good job! If you have follow-up videos, you may want to put the link in the description or as a button in the video itself. This might generate even more clicks 😉 keep up the good work!
Don't you get plagues of mice and rats over winter?
Ahhh I got it! I will just plant where I piled up all the old hay! It's broken down and composted and I like the boxes idea! Great idea!!!!
Humm we have palm fronds instead of leaves
Will straw work instead of hay?
Just stumbled upon your channel and enjoyed it, great combination of graphics videos. Looking forward to digging into the rest of your posts
Planting garlic in the fall like that should also give you a nice and curly garlic scape! They are yummy too, enjoy!
Will you try to plant elephant garlic?
this is pretty cool. i think the measuring stick goes against Ruth's mantra tho. it seems like too much work for her haha.
What do you do about sprouting hay seeds??
amazing /
but is this organic grow it w'll be ?
the little parts of the garlic are also called Toes. 🙂
SWEEEEET METHODS. Thank you guys for putting this knowledge on the internet. <3 Much love from Belgium.
Do you have a video on onions
I know that lady was thinking. (hey asshole wait until I place the cardboard to water it)
I didn't use enough hay. So my soil is still clay-y. Gonna have to either raise the beds or go to soil bag gardening in order to use my large plot.
Cool video but doesn't cardboard have a ton of chemicals in it that will transfer to your crop?
Trying this method with Elephant Garlic. Planted them last November 5th, 2018. It is May 21st and they are almost 22 inches tall . Potatoes are huge too and were planted in April 4th this year , 2019. So far , so good. Just palnted a single Lemongrass plant that was already about 18 inches tall. In a short time ..it has become the "Queen " of the Garden Growing and spreading fast !
You could plant all 260 cloves in two of those rows. Garlic beds don't need to take up much space. I have done it and had great success.
if only you had planted directly over the soil and covered the close with composed and then a layer of hey you have got twice the the yield
we planted in raised beds here at 60 degrees north…been having great results for 5 years now…good video!!!
Can I use regular garlic, or do I need special seeding garlic as I do for potatoes?
I told my wife to use the Ruth Stout method to bury me…..I laughed…….she didn’t.
