Because… what???
Merry Christmas Ben. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Thank you. Shallots sounds like a wonderful item to plant!
I love your greenhouse. Happy holidays and thank you for everything!
I like it. amazing video
Merry Christmas Ben xx
We will see you soon.
Thanks for this as as in the new year I will be doing mine. Looking forward to it
Lovey pickled in sherry vinegar too!
I planted my shallots outdoors in November and they are already sprouting well. They survived the snow and temperatures down to -9C here in Wales. Some were bought from a garden centre as sets while others were purchased from a supermarket and were sold to be eaten. About 50% of the supermarket bulbs are growing. They were much cheaper than from the garden centre and I'll still get more shallots than were originally in the pack.
Merry Christmas! I can't be arsed peeling shallots but I might grow some just the same
I have planted these too
I guessed wrong on the bulb! I thought you were going to say saffron crocus bulbs! But, shallots are definitely a good one…been growing French Red shallots for a couple of years and am very happy with them.
I love that you always have a cheery, positive, upbeat attitude, it's very encouraging and inspiring!
I'm a visual learner so this was very helpful. I've always thought growing shallots would be difficult and time consuming so I've put off trying them for years but now I'm ready to give them a go! Thank you Ben! Much appreciated!
Fab! Merry Christmas ❤
When the shallots are ready to be pulled, can you leave one in the ground to multiply again?
Also, how deep do they have to be planted? Can they grow in drain pipes on the balcony?
Hi Ben, great video! I shall start some in trays, do they need stratification out in the freezing Colorado winter, or will they be ok on the floor of my greenhouse where it's cooler? Thank You!
i planted my shallots outside back in late October I think and its my first time of growing these as well as onions and garlic! really looking forward to seeing these next year!
I love how your glasses match your hand tools!
I'm sure in your recent vid you say seed is less likely to succum to disease not sets
