Nice loop segue!
Except they actually are poisonous in a way. The lectin content in their skins and seeds are quite high, which can lead to inflammation over time…I can no longer eat even a slice on a burger without bloating and nausea. And it kinda makes sense…they are a member of the nightshade family, and nightshade is a known poison…
I actually heard about the lead plates and tomatoes from Karl Pilkington years ago from the X FM radio show.
Ben, you are so clever with your circular shorts. Fun, quick and informative.
Thank you!
This is the best short I've seen yet. Informative, love how you had some fun with it, and especially LOVED how you looped it! 🙂
Ha! Great stuff!
Tu es un génie mon très cher ami
be good to know more about nightshades … often hear they're bad for you … but also hear that tomatoes are good to help avoid cancer … confusing … thanks
Good bit of history
I thought they just assumed they were deadly night shade
Learn something new every day, eh? Thanks!
I mean kinda makes sense people fear them a lot of nightshades in the same family of tomatoes are poisonous also the potato fruit is toxic
Great Video !!! Potatos did have the same problem. No one known gow to eat them and so non wanted them.
Tomatoes are indeed kind of poisonous to me unfortunately. Interesting fact to learn today though – thank you!
This is a myth, they ate a variety of solanum nigrum with red berries in Italy for thousands of years and when tomatoes arrived they embraced them as a bigger variety of the same thing they always grew which is why tomatoes are popular in Italian cooking today. The story of the guy eating the tomato in public is a myth, please stop perpetuating it, it's a bit racist.
makes since
Wow, also a Question would it be that tomatoes are closely related to the nightshade family
