  1. You should be good. Free microbes and fertilizer lol. Cool when they all flew away at the end. I would be a little worried if your planting ground vegetables near the goes poop tho.

  2. The previous solution at the farm where I lend a hand was local hunters. Moderate success at best, but at least last summer they didn't destroy the wheat fields like the year before. Now however, there's a border collie who's a gonzo hunter that we're itching to let rip into the fields when the wretched vermin return. We expect she'll chase them away like her life depended on it. When they become resident, it's last one standing wins.

  3. They're leaving fertility behind. If they get too destructive, you're zoned for agriculture, so isn't there some sort of nuisiance permit you can have? Or perhaps a couple of local hunters would oblige you.

  4. Where do you order your winter rye seed from and what is it called on their website? I just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago. I am in zone 6b in NJ as well. I love your kind heart with wanting to teach others to grow their own food and your willingness to sacrifice your own plants to show your viewers what is going on under the plant. You are a humble, generous man and it shows. Going to be tuning in on the regular from now on. God bless you and your family.

  5. You have fed thousands of Birds a nutritious & Healthy snack .

What do think about, planting Dutch White Clover (inoculated & coated)
as Im trying to ,, get rid of small areas 30 by 50 ft of where Lawn Grass used to be.
Mowing was part of the reason & also want garden (but its my front Yard in a City.
,, I grew Dill & Tomatoes , Marigolds , Squash, Cantelope directly in soil last year. They did well.
I planted Thyme & Sage they' seemed to make it over the Winter & Strawberry plants.

I started 3 years ago by putting down cardboard & leaves to kill the lawn grass .

I don't have soil exposed, but nothing over the winter was growing either. i have cardboard, leafs & woodchips down.
But , i would like to try & plant some white dutch Clover in little patches.

I thank you , for the knowledge of importance of Roots…

Im in Ct. Also 6 a

  6. Would it be worth to try the leaves, soil, leaves, stacking method without a cover crop , first?
in a 7 gallon pots for tomatoes or peppers?
& Adding worm castings, lime & some compost ?

I certainly will try with a cover crop, next year. If it'll work in a Pot?

    Thanx

  7. I hope you have enough left to take care of the soil as you had planned, Maybe you can cast some seed to fill in. The birds are lovely, but they do love to eat our young plants. Every now and then, I see a couple walking here. I'm told that they come down to grown in pairs to help each other, when one is a little sick. So cool.
