Maybe someone has already said, or, you already know, but what you are doing with your hand on the little seedlings is this: Thigmomorphogenesis (Thigma –> to touch in Greek) is the response by plants to mechanical sensation (touch) by altering their growth patterns. In the wild, these patterns can be evinced by wind, raindrops, and rubbing by passing animals. 🙂
Did I see the Pandora Poppy seed packet?! I saw them in Baker Creek's catalog and just had to get them!
To save space I planted my zinnias and bee balm on the outside of the fence around of the garden It saved space and looked beautiful.
Grow all the flowers you want. The joy will be worth it.
I just love your enthusiasm for gardening!! I was wondering if you store your seeds in refrigerator or freezer? I’ve heard you are supposed too. Just wondering what your thought were on that:) Thanks, Judy❤️
You said you weren't competitive. Girl, you are! I can see it in your eyes and hear it in your voice. I'm cheering for you.
Heheehee never to many flowers
I plant flowers with my vegetables!! Yes, sow them around yard!!! You have tons of seeds!!! So fun!!! I wish I could be planting but we are BURIED in snow.
Poppy seeds sow directly!! They don't like to be transplanted!! They are beautiful!!! And they sow themselves each year!!!
You are SO sweet!!! You make me smile!!!
Grow all of the flowers!!!!
Why don't you limit them by color? Like group all yellow orange, and red? Or all blue and purple together. Then there's height. Put short in front of taller. I like to put 2 interesting colors together like salmon and lime green – coral and fuchsia or violet. Never pink and red, blech.
I want to grow asparagus…however I heard starting from seed could be 3 years to harvest? Is that true? If so…how can you speed up the process?
Good to see I’m not alone in having absolutely no self control when it comes to gardening!!
I really appreciate how you get your kids involved. This is close to my heart. Keep up the good Kingdom work!
Play The Seed Game like I do. Take one "dice" out of a board game. Lay 6 packets of seeds out in front of you. Roll the dice and select the seed packet that corresponds to that number for example 2 on the dice means the second packet in the row……If you still have too many choices after going through your seed box…..play another round.
Also, regarding separating seedlings…..don't…FYI: I figured out after about 20 years that it takes less time to replant an individual cell in a try that didn't germinate than it does to separate seedlings and replant. Try it one at a time , wait a few days, and fill in the blanks. It also doesn't injure tender seedlings by uprooting and handling.
Plant them all!!!!
Anyone know how long a packet of seeds lasts, if you don't use them all the first year?
I’m sorry no voice of reason here. Plant as many as you can hope they all come up! Enjoy your planting your garden this year
Hi jess Im from the Philippines! I Just want to say you and MI gardener inspired me to take up gardening as a hobby. Its keeps me busy while im at home taking care of my new baby. Im learning a lot. Thank you so much again.
Every year I tell myself to cut back, grow a few things well. Then the seed catalogs start coming. We get one very early perfect outdoor day. I smell clean soil. Then I lose my mind and “somehow” wind up with WAY more seeds, plant starts, etc., than I can ever possibly do. Just tag me the Crazy plant Lady, lol.
There’s too many choices and I’m afraid that I’m going to miss some!!! Lol same here!!
