  1. GOT ONE! Thanks for the scoop. Today I saw a denuded branch so came out with a magnifying glass in the 95F heat. Found the chameleon hornworm and dispatched it. Those suckers cling hard. Yuck!

  2. I do not know if anyone has said but it's a moth that lays the eggs for these hornworms. Maybe the moths are not around or you have kept them out?

  3. I'm a big city girl, I hate bugs, i can't even stand the most basic ones, like moths, without freaking out. Yet I want to be a homemaker, grow my own food. . . . . do you ever get used to the bugs or will this cowardice of mine be an obstacle to my dream?

  4. I’m not sure your guys agreement , but my son goes back and forth to his uncles now and then, and once she turns 16 she won’t need the person who accompanies minors on flights ( and cost a ton extra) and sometimes spirt air has flights as low as $60-$100( you save $20 each way if you buy the tickets at the airport ) . Just figured I would mention it in case that would give you guys more options to see her over long weekends through the year

  5. Congratulations on your new book!!! I will be ordering one for sure!!! You have been my go-to girl for all my gardening questions this year!! Looking forward to your canning and cooking books in the future! 🙂 best of luck to you and your family, you're all wonderful to watch.

  6. We're going on a bear hunt.

We're going to catch a big one.

    What a beautiful day!

    We're not scared.

    Uh-uh!

    Grass!

    Long wavy grass.

    We can't go over it.

    We can't go under it.

    Oh no!

We've got to go through it!

Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy!

  7. Hi Jess, Miah and Malia! Just started watching previous videos and am glad I got to see Malia! It's too bad she has to leave. This was a fun video! I don't think I've ever seen a hornworm, and hope I never do! That's so cool how the black light works. Thank you for sharing!

  8. So cool! Hadn't seen this before. Almost ordered a black light, and then realized my birds would disown me.
I usually pull hornworms with an anxious audience of birds in a nearby bush. Guess they are tasty. Each worm I toss into the open space is quickly hauled off. I haven't yet actually stuck with any pruning, no matter what I planned in the early cooler growth. Makes for a great crop of hornworms. 😉 It's still just pause at the black poop, and start working up from there. Seems like my eyes have to adjust to see the actual worms though, which is so weird.

  9. Does the black light work on other worms? Last year we lost our cabbage and broccoli in just a few days. Just the stems and bare branches left.
