What determines how many seeds are in each tomato?
Does it have to do with pollination?, Variety?, size?
The Amish actually save seeds by cutting tomato slices and placing them on top of dry soil in the root cellar. They actually don't water/ germinate them until the spring. It will ferment and then dry over the winter. I prefer your method, but it is possible to do it the other way.

can you imitate the fermentation process? Like soaking the seeds in vinegar before planting?
You know wired think I see this yr in my garden,first I have like 10 volunteers all over my garden,most is cherry tomatoes,but I have Cherokee purple tomato,one tomato get red but I miss if so it’s fall off on ground and start rotted.So last week I take plant out because she done ,yesterday I went to garden to pick tomatoes I have one like you slice call mushroom basket ,anyway I look down see greens grow from ground,guess what it’s like 20+ seedlings of tomatoes from that tomato. I never see anything like that before,it’s take that seeds like 3 week to regrow .I wish it’s still time to plant them again but I’m in zone 5 , most tomatoes is done.

One time after using some tomatoes for cooking, I threw the seeds attached to the part of tomatoe where the stem meet, into a few of my plant pots as a top compost thing. All the seeds were sprouting after a few weeks. We weren't sure what was growing until the sprouts grew real leafs to realize they were tomatoes.
What do you think about making cuttings at the end of the yearfrom a tomato plant that did really well and using those cuttings to make new tomato plants to grow next year or even just grow in a hot house during the winter

I cut up a heirloom mater from a Farm on rt.8 into slices. Laid it on potting mix and put a inch of potting mix over put outside under awning… so full shade and after a week I had all kinds of leafs popping up. Then moved it out to sun and I bet u I have 50 plus spouts.. each spout has 2 leafs .. gonna move them to egg carton in couple days and stick them.in garage under a 15k led light and see if the grow over this winter… I only bought one heirloom mater cause it was last left . But gonna try this way with a organic store bought and see what happens… im super stoked I got all these leafs from that first mater. Good video

Great video demonstration. I've been doing this for years with heirlooms. You can also put the seeds directly on a paper towel and let them dry out without fermenting them. Yes they do stick to the paper towel, but, if you separate the seeds on the paper towel before you let them dry, you can just tear the paper towel around the seed and plant it. That works too.
I ferment then use TSP for a final cleaning. YES! Use a paper plate. That cute dog is an amazing ventriloquist! Thanks little buddy.

It's fine if they are rotting . That just means they've begun the fermentation process
