Hey! I love Carpe Diem! That's in my hometown right by where I went to school. Spent countless hours studying there.
I've grown Romanesco before and it actually did pretty well. Had trouble getting it started but once they were established I got a few good plants. I'm on the Gulf Coast (9a) & our weather can be tricky too. I've been starting all my winter veggies in August/Sept, but I don't think the Romanesco bolts quite as easily as other varieties ( I could totally be wrong). Good luck! Love your videos.
Oh, and thanks for the tip on burying seeds too deep! That explains A LOT!
Oak, pine, memosa, and mesquite teas will all help you get better faster all are antiseptic, antiviral, antiseptic and anticancer.
You could also eat raw garlic and kick it faster.
Put some of your celery in your high tunnel. I had one in my aquaponics greenhouse in SC so pretty much same climate as yours. It grew for about 3 years. I finally removed it last year bc it was taking up so much space and we don't really eat it.
it does take sometime to get over this took my husband three weeks to really to start feeling better so glad your taking car
You can start carrots inside in Milk cartons, and cut out the bottom of the carton when you plant them outside (with the carton) . We do that in Norway and Sweden to get early harvest.

I am so jealous of your garden season.. love watching your videos while we sit in the frozen north
Prayers girl!
About your Brussel Sprouts, you can be eating the leaves now, recipes online, highly nutritious, tastes amazing, my husband can’t stand the sprouts themselves , but he loves the cooked leaves. Then wash blanch, dry and freeze , in freezer bags, or you can can them like any other green.
I use a old hair straightener to reseal bakers creek seed packs
Hey, I learned from an old gardner to sow carrots in a piece of watergutter, then transport the whole row into the soil later. Good luck!
Good for sweet Miah…keep you resting so your body can heal itself appropriately 🙂 I am in zone 5b so I can't exactly start seeds yet, however, I think I may do some winter sowing! lol. I like to sow lettuce intensively. Then I just cut as needed and it keeps growing. I have got some Brocc Raab to grow this year, we'll see lol. I am kinda intimidated by celery lol…I have been seeing that pink celery everywhere this year! so many are growing it 🙂 I hope it does well for you!!! celery is one of the few seeds that need light to germinate 😉 Yay for Brussel sprouts!! LOL I don't think anybody says that…
I grow celery every year. I dont even press the seeds in. I have a designated section of my greenhouse for carrots and celery. I literally just sprinkle them in the greenhouse in the warm corner of the greenhouse and let them do their thing lol
Jess the only way I can grow carrots is by starting them as seeds in my pods in my potting shed- but this is Brisbane Australia- sub-tropical. I actually have an amazing bed of carrots in at the moment & my new seedlings are just about ready to go into garden.
I am so glad you are feeling better & great to see you up & around. Cheers Denise- Australia
Hi Jess, can you please tell me how you built your window greenhouse? It's so very cute and looks sustainable
Tha Brussel sprouts qre not ready. They are ready after 150 days, so half a year, and than they are much much bigger and fuller. you can take the leaves off the bottom half..
When do you direct sow carrots outside? I’m not far from you.
At what point in the year do you start your tomatoes, and peppers???
I just pre-ordered your book! Can't wait to read it!!
Instead of pressing the seeds down, one thing I’ve started doing is just sprinkling the seeds on top of the soil and sprinkling a thin layer of soil on top of them. I’ve had more success seed starting that way
Do you have a book?
This might sound stupid, but I'm having a hard time understanding how many seeds to put in soil, it always says "sow seeds" but never sure of how many! I know, it's a very stupid question, but, no question is a stupid question, right?
