After you plant them in the ground or in pots, fertilize them with flower fertilizer. Fertilize monthly for the rest of the growing season.
Deadhead verbena plants after the first full bloom. Prune one-fourth of the plants top growth, include old flower blooms. Take care not to prune on the main stem.

  1. Ok. So I got two verbena plants this summer and planted them underneath/beside my cherry tomatoes in a raised garden bed. I think the sun was too hot and by the end of the net day they were dry and shriveled up. However, I said a prayer and watered and watched them. Eventually they came back but now (Oct) they are just ‘leggy’ and have no flowers. Will they keep through winter in Northern California or should I just buy new plants again next summer?

  2. I love verbena flowers. Can you show how to collect seeds of verbena, how to plant from seed and how long it take to produce flowers from seed? Thanks. It would be a huge help.
