Becky, in Texas we slow cook cow tongue and make barbacoa. You add 1/4 cup of water just for the steam, s&p the tongue and wrap in foil. Slow cook it overnight and simply remove the skin and shred the meat. serve it in corn tortillas with pico de gallo.
You could roast those turkeys and make tamales since you've stated in another video that you want to make masa
Tongue is good and easy. Boil in seasoned water. Peel the skin off.
I did not know you could freeze milk. Does the taste or texture change when thawed?
I would suggest splitting your meat up between freezers. That way if your meat freezer fails you don’t lose ALL your meats. Ask me how I know. 🙂
Cow Tongue do you boil it then peel the outer skin off then slice it and it is good for sandwiches, it is very delicious.
I’m in California and have been looking for a place to buy a hog or cow for meat. Any suggestions?
Your home is amazing!
Do you like zipper bags or vacuum seal bags? Your last freezer. You can switch the handle to the other side so it’s easier and more convenient for you to open
Loved doing freezer meals when kids were young and I had energy.
BUT word of warning, for anyone who has medical issues especially, be careful how much of your bread you freeze. If you have to stagger it on your menu calendar. Bread is a great source of the vitamin Bs, but freezing it as dough or cooked kills the vit Bs.
At least this was what hey said about 30 years ago.
Hey there.. we live in the Vancouver area too.. wondering what farm you go through for your Beef and pork? I know there are quite a few
Oh, make sure you peel the tough tongue outer skin. The meat inside is soft and delicious!
When we buy a lot of meat or process a deer we put the meat in a freezer bag and then wrap it in either freezer paper or jumbo brown lunch bags. Helps keep it from freezer burn.
For lamb, I marinate it in pesto. Then bake or grill. So good and hides the gamey taste a bit.
Do you have any videos on how and what can be stored in a freezer and for how long?
Omg you gotta moose meat and caribou meat and make dry eat and make sausages links n hamburger meat.. And dried geese. Love to know how to buy whole cow
I freeze my pizza sauce in ziplocks and never thaw- just use scissors to cut the end of the bag off and push out the hole to a microwave safe bowl with a napkin to cover while you heat.
I'm in the UK, can someone explain what it means by Homestead?. Also what's the reason you keep so much food, is it because of weather you get etc?. In UK we don't need to do this so amazes me
You can just boil the cow tongue (add it to a broth- duo purpose) then just slice it up and dip it with soy sauce
Steam the cow tongue. That’s how my mom has been cooking it all my life. She steams it through the night and then chops up the meat. It’s so tender and juicy.
This girl can survive an apocalypse 😀
Theyve got freezer burn because you need a sealer to get the air out
we used to eat canned tongue in the UK
Are you still thinking of doing an updated freezer tour? I love your videos!!
