I’ve been growing pumpkins and squash this year, starting them off in the kitchen. I’m looking to increse my long storage winter vegetables that will hopefully be ready later in the year.
We take a look at the Atlantic Giant pumpkins, the courgette, the butternut squash, the spaghetti squash and finally the delicious honey boat squash, all are winter squash varieties.
We also check up on the potato varieties that I’m growing the Mayan Rose and the Rocket potatoes.
Growing long storage vegetables increases the chance of being more self sufficient over the winter months.

I'd love to have some pumpkins and squash!
Glad to see yours off to a good start!
Your window is molding, you might want to take care of that, I suggest a water/sodium bicarbonate spray. Or you can use a slightly diluted toilet cleaner.
Hey Adam, nice one. That solitary Yukon Gold spud – I have grown this variety and it's worth the effort.
If it were up to me, I'd cut it into pieces with one eye per piece and plant them separately. It does work. Ignore the naysayers.
Do you take BIT COIN ?
I do hope your spaghetti squash does super as they are delicious. Here's to you remembering to pot on those plants that need more space. LOL Your potatoes are looking good. The Yukon gold is a yellow one that has a buttery flavor. I've grown those and love them. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
we have all sunburnt the odd plant mate. Yukon gold you say that was one hell of a nugget your rich I tell ya yeeehaw 😉 Your spuds are looking good mate. I had an artichoke lasted 3 years and gave up the ghost. When I do lettuce starts I just over sow and prick out. Can never have enough lettuce.
Cheers
Starts are looking great! Yukon gold is a staple over here. Very nice spud, I hope they do well for you pal!!
Great pumpkin and squash updates. Hope the ones not doing as well bounce back for you as well as the others are doing.
Cheers,
Rob
Yukon Gold, that's the kind I could buy at the supermarket in the US! Very common, nice soft gold color when mashed.
Lots going on there Adam! Your 'covered in bees' video you did about a globe artichoke flower inspired me to get a couple of plants last year. Only one flower but I'm expecting better things this season. I hope you managed to get your Plusnet issues sorted. I watched your live video when you mentioned it but we were casting to TV so I couldn't comment. My updates also go via Plusnet and I know they've been having problems lately. 2 weeks ago the only way you could contact them was via their community forum but they've managed to resurrect their phone team now, if you're happy to wait on hold for 20 minutes. My uploads take about an hour but that's better than it used to be. All the best, David
Plants looking good Adam. Mixed bag of crops here, between using Styrofoam modules and crappy starting mix my plants are not looking good. However I repotted everything and I hope they grow on.
Take care
Cheers
Harold
Good plan to have more winter store-able veg mate – growing a couple of butternut squash myself this year for that very reason. I nearly scorched some sweet peppers by leaving them in full sun – i'm sure your plants will be fine when you get 'em re-potted. That globe artichoke should be interesting (never tried one!)
Cheers mate.
