VIDEO: How to Stagger Plant For A Continuous Harvest Year-Round

Thank you Luke! Our garden is getting bigger and bigger each year thanks to your help and advice. Is there any way you could list in the video description or in a comment what you're planting? Particularly on the videos "What to plant this month". I'm forgetful and it's helpful to have a list. I still need the advice you share in the video on how to go about for a good harvest. Your help has been invaluable! BTW, we're growing watermelon on a trellis after you inspired us with your cantaloupes.
No mention of how having roots in the ground helps the soil life…
I've been taking the tomato suckers that I've pruned off and plucking them into the cool weather crop garden that I've pulled out. Hello free and no work growing from seeds tomato plants! This is especially awesome for hybrids that I can't seed save from. Hello free Sungold and Supersweet-100 cherry tomatoes that I can't save seeds from!)
Thanks for the reminder!
After hearing you recommend this in another video, I planted 3 varieties of shorter maturity tomatoes the beginning of July. Good thing because half of my tomatoes this year aren't the greatest. I think I will get some zucchini going next.
Can you put in writing what you start late August first September. I try to write it down but to busy listening
One of the best videos you've made!
Tomatoes don’t do well once the temps hit the 50’s. They won’t do well after summer.
Thank you for sharing! I’m new to gardening and I was just trying to figure out what I can plant next.
Hi, I wasn't clear about the peppers. I'm in Zone 10b California and I just started my bell pepper plants with some production. I have a small space and I'm using containers, do I let the peppers produce, takr them out, then start all over with a new plant? Or put additional seed in with the established plant?
This makes so much sense! Not sure why it took me over 20 years to realize that I should be doing this. However I have back-up plants growing now. Thanks for your constant wealth of info.
Fantastic video. Great info. Thanks!
So with the late spring, and sudden summer, (think scorch and then fire/smoke season) , here in Malakwa BC Canada, we have had no regular Spring or summer. I have not had my 9 gardens dry out once, this year.
I replanted peas, Lincoln and Super Snap. The earlier planted peas died off quickly, some with pods still on.
My plants are getting 'fed' with organic fertilizer once a week. They are putting on rapid growth and maturity because this 3rd week of smoke has felt like an early autumn season. It is the weirdest thing! Plants that I'm told will mature and die in 120 days, were started indoors and are still growing and producing 150 days later! Great info.
I have planted carrots and radishes, just yesterday morning…too smoky to be out long.
Can I start pole beans for transplant too? And….can I start my seeds outdoors (unlike my spring/summer garden starts) since it’s warm out ? I’m assuming so, but I’m a first time gardener so wanna check!
i never thought about this. this is very helpfull. thx
Love to see a vid on all the containers you use and transplanting
Do you still start under lights or in a greenhouse outdoors?
Hi Luke. Big fan, I learn something from all of your videos.
Why don't you have a "Grow Big or Go Home" shirt with the saying on the front of the shirt and/or stickers? I personally want one. Make them v-neck cause it is hot in Texas. Much love!
Thank you for this, I never thought of this!! I’m in MN and would love to produce more!!
I have similar weather to you, being in NE Ohio. I know you said you were starting bush beans. I have some pole beans sprouted that I started a week ago. Is it pointless to try to grow pole beans this late in the season? I do have bush beans available to plant, too, just wanted to take a crack at pole beans again. However, I can put my cucumbers along the fence I have if pole beans won't really work.
if anyone has success or failure with this, please let me know! Really don't want to waste my space again lol
So you plant tomatoes into a small seed starter then plant in container, then replant in ground to yr garden??
What an excellent idea / concept. Never thought about this and never started plants to swap in. We’ll definitely give this a try. Thanks.
I've already planted bush beans 4x a few weeks apart. They are so easy to grow and I put them anywhere I can find space in my garden! I let my pansies in containers grow leggy through the early summer and when I pulled them I decided to put bush beans rather than buy petunias for the containers.
hi @MIgardener – I've got a question about bush beans! I grew some awesome Provider beans this summer, and after the first harvest, they're still hanging on, started some new flowers, and look like they'll provide another crop. I went by intuition and pruned some flower-free branches, just to give them some more sun…but wondered, should I have just pulled them out and replaced with a new crop? Now I'm waiting for the new beans to sprout, and it's happening, but it's slow going. In terms of yields, I wonder what you would have done – kept them or replaced? Thanks!
I wish gardening sites would provide actual dates for the videos. Otherwise, it’s like leaving a note on the door that says, back in 5 mins when no one knows when you left.
Oh now you got me all fired up to try and plant some more things! I was thinking I was limited to beats, lettuce and pumpkin things already. (Kansas)
Great advice for me here in Trinidad and Tobago
