  1. Thanks for the video. I planted 100 cloves this fall (all from my 2021 garlic grown in my garden) and everyone I told said I was crazy, that it was too much. It is only when I see other gardeners like you that I realize I am not nuts and instead I am just mentally in a different place than most of my family and friends. You have given me a new goal for next fall… 500 cloves. 🙂

  2. Hi when starting to make compost no 1 cut up twiggy material put in the bottom of compost bin no2 then a layer of green material then no3 carbon material cardboard brown or grey not with alot ink on it no3repeat the above no4 remmber the compst needs air in the layers to be able to decompose down no5 if you cut all the green waste up small it will break down quicket no egg shells can go in.grasd in small amounts about inch thick leafs and some water if dry hope info helps enjoybur compost next year

  3. I plant both hard and soft neck garlics. While I agree the soft necks keep longer into the spring than the hard necks, they also make smaller heads with lots of tiny cloves which are a pain in the kitchen. The hard necks make all big cloves. I plant every single clove off the biggest heads of garlic. I think it’s a myth that the tiny cloves make tiny heads. Across a single variety there isn’t a large amount of variation in size of the heads harvested. I plant 6” apart so that I can get a hand tool in between for weeding without injuring the growing heads. When garlic gets to be 3” in diameter or bigger, like mine, a 4” spacing is too close. My guess is your smaller heads are caused by close spacing more so than small seed garlic.

  4. The leaf you showed us is an Oak leaf. They are the best for protecting your beds and are what squirrels use to line their nests because they don't decompose over one winter.

  5. Get yourself one of those rubber garlic rollers. I don't know what the actual name is. You put the garlic in the middle and just roll. I've always just smashed and peeled. Bought one of these and I love it. Works great on any size head of garlic.
