  1. I was wondering if possible to grow veggies in a basement in raised beds and how would the pollination work without insects? The same way you did it by hand or what do you think? Thanks

  2. James, I’m growing 2x Costata Romanesco this year and been hand pollinating them, but all the zucchini eventually dried up and died. Not sure what went wrong. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

  3. Saw a video on the problem of squash vine borers, and this guy wraps the stem coming from the base of the plant, with strips of tin foil, wraps it from ground level to about 5+ inches above, making sure that no part of it is exposed, especially where it touches the ground. He said it works very well for him. He lives in Tennessee.
Thanks for the great advice in this video. I learned a few new things ("trap plant" blue hubbard squash, and burying the zucchini stem if squash vine borers have invaded!).

  4. Great helpful video as always. How did you build the trellis or climbing frame for cucumbers please? It’s the one which looks like a wooden frame with a wire mesh. Thanks

  5. In NC, SVBs laying season goes all the way into mid-August. Hopefully that means I’m past it now. Out of four vines, I managed to get one zucchini so far this year. I hate the little jerks even worse than I hate squash bugs.

  6. THIS IS THE SECOND VIDEO THAT SAYS THE VINE BORERS DON'T CONTINUE WELL INTO SUMMER. THIS IS FALSE FOR MY GARDEN. I GET VINE BORERS WELL INTO SEPTEMBER. WHICH TENDS TO BE TOO LATE FOR FOR REPLANTING. ALSO SQUASH BEETLE ARE PROLIFIC. SOAPY WATER DOES HELP BUT NOT SUFFICIENT.
