  1. Clint, it's funny how some things will work on some plants and the same things won't work on others. I use the clam shells as well to propagate the plants I have. I've also used the small shells to make more rootstock for new fruit trees. I haven't grafted on those rootstocks yet. I'll let you know if I'm cloning successful rootstock for new fruit trees. The problem with buying rootstock from some nurseries is that they will ship them to me too late in the season, and so I can't graft until the following year. I'm in Texas zone 8.

  2. I ordered a dozen of these Clam-shell pote about 5 years ago and now I take 5 or 6 small but longer cuttings "10-12" and scrape the bottoms of the cuttings then chew the end to coat with saliva then place under a CFL light 12 Hr. on 12 HR. off with the lighting. Some times I use a LED Floresent shop light from Walmart $19.87. each. The LED light is Bulbless on shop light.
I can do this 365 days a year. Just Remember to open the Bottom opening on 1 side to allow water to drain. I haven't had a loss since I started this. Remember the "Saliva" google it you will see what I mean !!
