Great video, but what do you use to edit your videos?
Do you do anything with the eggs besides hatch them?
Would the chickens bully or eat the quail?
Another idea might be to color code males vs females in the breeds that don't have obvious differences

In one of your videos you say 5 females for 2 males. But after the breeding is done and you put them in the pen do they have their own houses for when sleeping, laying eggs etc? if you do how you show them which one to use or you just build random covers/sages/small houses and they figure out by themselves? thank you for sharing all this good information.

Hi, at what day do you put the rings? I need them as early as possible as I am marking those that have hatched from the largest eggs.
Would 8mm be effective? That seems to be the most common size
what size leg rings do i use for chicks and fully grown hens?
Since I separated my males from my small flock, ( they were attacking the babies that two of the hens hatched out themseves, leaving less than half!) Anyway, when the babies were big enough to run away, , I put one male back into the hen"s run. Well, my problem is, they are all totally skittish now, and I've had no more eggs! It's 9 April, mid autumn here, (South Africa, Coastal area) so surely it's not too cold yet.? Does too much shade matter? Oh, I know they are not supposed to breed naturally, but mine do, I think it's all the long grass and foliage.
G'day Mark. Would love to find out, after 2 years, how has the Borotto held up?? I'm looking at buying the Borotto REAL 24 Automatic but they are really hard to find any user reviews on. Maybe due to the fact they have not really been around in Australia for that long. And with not a lot of info, its a lot of cash to lay down without some first hand info. Would 8mm be ok for Japanese quail because I can’t find any good 7mm ones and we are in lockdowns so I can’t go out to get them
I ordered size 3 and 4 rings, but watching this I'll now order 7mm rings in varying colours. I am looking at some selective breeding, but for me that will involve building or buying some form of caging to supplement my run, as I can't build add on runs as I lack space. I am interested in the epigenetics – for egg colour, meat, size, and eye and feather colours. I have one Celadon egg (recessive ce gene causing pale blue egg) which requires me to find another bird to develop with the trait as both of the pair need to be ce recessive.

Hey, did you make a review on borotto?
I'm planning to use them do color code my cages. My kids don't always keep the doors closed while feeding/ watering and one gets out here and there. This way we will know which location it goes back to. It will help prevent single birds going into the wrong flock.
