Hydroponic Herb Garden: Easy and Affordable DIY Guide

Are you interested in growing your own fresh herbs year-round, but don’t have much space or experience in gardening? Look no further than hydroponic herb gardens, which are easy to set up and require minimal maintenance. In this article, we’ll break down the process of creating your own hydroponic herb garden, using a simple and affordable design.

First, let’s start with the materials. You will need a plastic tote with a 15-quart capacity, which you can find at home depot for around $5. To prevent algae growth, you will need to spray paint the tote gray to block out light. Use a two-inch hole saw to drill eight holes on the top of the tote, where you will place net pots. Fill the pots with hydroton clay pellets and then plant your herbs of choice.

Next, create the water reservoir at the bottom of the tote. Fill it with water and add general hydroponics flora grow nutrients. To ensure adequate oxygen supply for the plants, use an aquarium air stone and an airline connected to an air pump. The air pump prevents the roots from drowning and encourages healthy plant growth.

Once you have set up your hydroponic herb garden, it’s simple to maintain. Keep the water level steady and place the tote under some lights or in the sun. You can harvest your fresh herbs year-round and enjoy the benefits of having your own homegrown produce.
