lol at the bolting broccoli. It really does bolt quick. This was my first year getting ANY broccoli due to bugs, weather, and critters and I thought exactly as you described with the same results.
WOW, Broccoli grows fast, considering ya may have told us ya planted the broccoli around the last days of march and we're at mid-july, broccoli's life cycle from seed to mature plant is around 3 months and a half! Thumbs up good buddy!
My broccoli also just went to seed way to fast! We were cold and wet weather wise then had a couple of very hot days and it bolted! I am seed saving also!
I have never been able to grow any…or cauliflower.
